CloseMy February build for a Carrera S Coupe has now been moved backwards twice and has still not been confirmed definitely. Production week is now 13 which is end of March. I have noticed that the chrome surrounds have been moved from the car configurator. Does anybody know more about this problem and have cars been delivered in the mean time with this option or is this problem still not solved?

I think the factory are running behind schedule by around 4 weeks at present. My February build cabrio has slipped into March production with no firm date as yet.
My Panamera Turbo S order has been delayed from an April delivery to a June delivery. Official word is 11 weeks for all Panamera Turbo S with a production slot in April. I actually know the precise production date (planned), it is end of May. So I doubt that I'm getting the car before early or mid June. Bummer.
Porsche seems to have some issues with supplies, not only in Leipzig but in Zuffenhausen as well.

Perhaps,some suppliers went out of business? Victims of the recession? Because otherwise and in view of the general sales slowdown in the automobile industry, suppliers would have plenty of extra capacity for Porsche.
BTW, I had huge delays in getting some parts for my BMW motorbike too.

I'm not too sure about it. Automotive suppliers actually seem to do pretty well right now but I heard or read somewhere that some bigger car companies like VW and Mercedes are actually trying to re-negotiate supplier prices and take a guess what it is all about. Of course...lower prices. I'm not sure it is a wise thing to put suppliers under too much financial pressure because if they have to work with a lower margin, not only quality will suffer sooner or later but it will also mean that as soon as car sales slow down, some suppliers could suddenly face bankruptcy.
I always thought that business is some sort of give/give and win/win thing but over the past couple of years, I rather get the feeling that many companies think mostly of a take/win and not a give/give/win strategy. Sad.

The only thing out there that I'm aware of that could be causing supply chain issues is simply the rise in demand. Audi & BMW & Porsche sales are all up 15% to 20% over a year ago. US dealers can't get enough product to meet demand right now. Since they're all calling on a similar pool of OEM parts makers, I imagine the parts plants are working extra overtime hours.
But I am surprised that Porsche's product planning hadn't accounted for this in advance. A sudden 8 week delay seems odd to me.

What you say makes sense too. From whichever angle you look at it, it is a consequence of the tough economic climate. The few car manufactures who are more or less untouched by the drop in demand, are trying to impose terms.

Reginos, what drop in demand? Demand is soaring worldwide. Thus the product shortages.
In Porsche's case, I think the shortage is caused by supplier issues, not necessarily by the lack of a sufficient parts availability.

Porsche has just increased production in Leipzig by approximately 30% and it also seems that the new 991 does pretty well but I'm not sure that parts availabilty is the real issue here but rather supplier quality and/or production issues.
