    That's the one, Joost! Smiley

And like Duckie stated, it is indeed Riviera (or Mexico, which is the same color)

Riviera and Mexico are in fact not the same colour, but they are so close you have to wonder why they have both. Smiley

    Re: GT3 RS 4.0

Citing the official press text(sorry, I was onboard a transatlantic flight when the press release came):

With the 911 GT3 RS 4.0, one of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart’s most popular, coveted and successful racing pedigree production cars is entering the home straight. Limited to 600 vehicles, the 911 GT3 RS 4.0 brings together in a road car all the attributes that have made the Porsche 911 GT3 a serial winner on the race track. The new model purveys thoroughbred motorsport technology to its innermost core. The flat engine's crankshaft has been lifted unchanged from the 911 GT3 RSR racing car’s six cylinder engine and the forged pistons’ connecting rods are fashioned from titanium. The four-litre displacement sports engine, the biggest 911 model line engine ever, is also the most powerful naturally aspirated engine with 125 hp/litre (92 kW). It achieves its maximum power of 368 kW (500 hp) at 8,250 revs per minute. The engine delivers its maximum torque of 460 Newton metres at 5,750 rpm.

The 911 GT3 RS 4.0 offers truly impressive performance. The most eloquent figure: It makes it round the Nürburgring-Nordschleife in 7:27 minutes. The 911 GT3 4.0, available exclusively with a six-speed sports transmission, sprints to 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standing start in 3.9 seconds, its gearing designed for the racing circuit taking it to the 200 km/h (124 mph) mark in under 12 seconds.

The 911 GT3 RS 4.0’s outstanding driving dynamics are the fruit of meticulously coordinated details. In addition to using the suspension components typically encountered in motor racing, weight reduction is also of supreme importance. Equipped as standard with light weight components such as bucket seats, bonnet and front wings made of carbon fibre, plastic rear windows and weight-optimised carpets, the two-seater’s ready-for-road weight is a mere 1,360 kilograms with a full tank of fuel. At 2.72 kg/hp, the 911 GT3 RS 4.0’s power-to-weight ratio thereby dips below the magical threshold of 3 kilograms per hp.

The limited edition 911 is painted white as standard and emphasises its proximity to motor racing by its dynamic appearance. Trademark characteristics are the wide track, the low vehicle position, the large rear wing with adapted side plates, the typical central twin tailpipe and the aerodynamically optimised body. The lateral front air deflection vanes, so-called flics, making their first appearance on a production Porsche, testify to the aerodynamic precision engineering. They create increased downforce on the front axle and together with the steeply inclined rear wing bring the vehicle into aerodynamic equilibrium. As a result, at top speed, aerodynamic forces exert an additional 190 kg pushing the 911 GT3 RS 4.0 onto the road.

The market launch of the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 begins in Germany in July 2011. The basic list price is 178,596 euro including 19 per cent value added tax and country-specific equipment.

What seems to be a twist in the whole 4.0 story: The lower price tag and the delayed introduction(July, which is quite unusual for Porsche and such a special ed model, instead of May) actually seem to have to do with a visual "downsizing" which left only the rear wing of the original design. This helped to keep the price tag down after a couple of potential customers apparently weren't too pleased about the 200+ k price figure. The technical difficulties also seem to be sorted out, so this car is a go.

I actually expected more than the 600 cars but apparently this is another compromise Porsche made, a good one for the future owners. The optional PCCB is also not a standard free option(as rumored before), which helped to keep the cost lower too.

For this kind of money, this car is definetely a very interesting offer.

That does seem pretty minimal considering the carbon front fenders, lightweight carpets, and plastic rear side windows.  Is there something about the 4.0 that weighs more than the 3.8 to offset these losses?

    Standard roll cage?

    Re: GT3 RS 4.0

The problem with all the weight is they usually never quote the specification it was weighed at.

A car with all the lightweight options is obviously lighter than a stock one. Also the lightest spec of car possible  for GT2/3s is to order the car without the roll-cage, but with the lightweight bucket seats, then it's 15-25kg lighter than a Clubsport.

Actually E9X M3 engine has the same displacement which is just under 4.0L

295 ft-lbs of peak torque comes around 3900 rpm, though. GT3 RS 4.0 has one of the best engines, IMO.

Wider fenders for example, think RSR. PCCB also was supposed to be a free option.

As to the "keeper" value of this car: If there is any Porsche to be a keeper, this one surely is. The last Mezger engine, in a N/A package and with 500 horses...amazing. 600 pieces may sound a lot but they are better than the initially planned 1000 or 911.

I'm curious about that too.  I wonder if the RSR parts (especially engine components) are more stout and therefore weight more...? Preuninger mentioned the RSR crank shaft and connecting rods for example.  If these rotate, that may take a little away too...?  A little, but still adds more value to the car overall..

Incidentally, he also says "this may be the best RS we have ever made."  I wonder if he realized as he said that that this wording includes the GT2RS.  SmileyI don't doubt that I'd prefer NA to Turbo for myself, but some recent GT2RS owners may not like the fact that he said this...

    Re: GT3 RS 4.0

The GT2 RS is a very nice product but I doubt that it can be compared to the GT3 RS 4.0.

Take the performance figures on the Nordschleife and compare the power of the GT3 RS 4.0 and the GT2 RS and you realize that although the GT2 RS is a great product, it really hasn't the same track capability the RS 4.0 has.

the GT2 RS is a great product, it really hasn't the same track capability the RS 4.0 has.

but then: the GT2 is faster around the NBR, is faster around HHR, is faster around probaly any other track, is faster on the straight... Smiley I.e. on each and every objective criterion the GT2 is the more efficient / faster sports car Smiley

P.S.: Just did a little sample calculation

if you compare GT3RS, GT3RS4.0 and GT2RS the hp figures are

    450, 500 and 620hp.

I would speculate that the lap times of the three cars are approximately linear to the hp figures - looking at the officially claimed NBR times:

7.33 (SportAuto), 7.27 (official claim), 7.18 (official claim)

Thus, based on these considerations all three cars (including the "normal" GT3RS) should have very similar track capabilities, their performance is primarily driven by the different engines...

I suspect the reason why the allocations have been so thinned out compared to normal. Is that a lot of them are now going to the emerging markets such as China and India.
