    Re: Ferrari 296 GTB (830PS, Hybrid V6)

The design language is a line away from being generic but loss of the V8 isn’t as great as when turbocharging replaced the normally aspirated prime mover of the 458.  Ferrari, strangely, has become big corporate automaker, as an independent, while Lamborghini still seems special.  Maybe is has something to do with the proliferation of models.

    Re: Ferrari 296 GTB (830PS, Hybrid V6)

Side profile makes me think of an elongated Alfa 4C especially the lines around the intake / door area

Good thing I turned down the F8 that was offered to me earlier.

I also believe, Pistas, SF90 , F8 will take a hit - Speciales, 458 , V12 cars will be more appreciated very soon.

HP numbers became nuts and don't add to the experience in my view - having driven V12 front cars  I much prefer them. Those who just buy HP are missing something in my opinion.

    Re: Ferrari 296 GTB (830PS, Hybrid V6)

Did anyone notice that F296 and F812 Competizione have both Identical Power and Dry Weight as each other??

    How convenient indecision

You pay more for a smaller car? Doesn't look like a bargain.

    Re: Ferrari 296 GTB (830PS, Hybrid V6)

I was thinking the same...finally some smaller cars.......the 911 today looks like it is a panamera coupe...

Not arguing design .of the 296 gtb .but in my opinin to many ferraris on the line.... I prefered 3 models and 1 super hyper ....

    much cooler and more exotic.....

    Re: Ferrari 296 GTB (830PS, Hybrid V6)

Maybe in real life it's different but looking at the photos the design leaves me indifferent.

    Re: Ferrari 296 GTB (830PS, Hybrid V6)

I think you mis-typed the wheelbase lengths Topspeed, they start with a 2 not a 1

I wouldn't get too excited about the 296 being smaller as it has only really rolled back to the dimensions of the 488 GTB which were :

    488 GTB:

    Wheelbase: 2,650mm( 296 GTB is -50mm)
    Length: 4,568mm (296 GTB is -3mm)
    Width: 1,952mm (296 GTB is +6mm)
    Height: 1,213mm (296 GTB is -26mm)

Here are some photo's that give a better representation of the size of the car -

    Re: Ferrari 296 GTB (830PS, Hybrid V6)

Some more showing the finer details. There is an interesting roof treatment that flows air under a roll hoop type spoiler design feature and directs it down over the rear deck lid.

    Re: Ferrari 296 GTB (830PS, Hybrid V6)

Why Ferrari have to make some of their designs so complicated?

The overall shape alludes to some classic Ferraris, but the details make it look so busy and convoluted.

In terms of mid-engine design I'd prefer the Maserati MC20.

The Roma is also very successfully styled.

    Re: Ferrari 296 GTB (830PS, Hybrid V6)

    Gnil:

What does size has to do with prise ?

It cost less to produce I think (for example they use less aluminum). Potentially, the difference in size is due to the fact that they removed the 2 extra cylinders from the V8. Would you pay more for the V6 than the V8? They take 2 cylinders off and they ask for more money? Then the V12 should cost less than the V8 which is not the case.

Edit: I think it is certain that the V6 engine allowed for a tighter package behind the cabin.

In any case, it seems that the increase in price is adjustment for cost inflation and/or higher gross margins. Let's see how much these cars will cost in 3 years time.

    Re: Ferrari 296 GTB (830PS, Hybrid V6)

They may have removed two cylinders but have added in a hybrid system which requires the space liberated by the smaller engine. The additional costs of the hybrid system will outweigh any cost savings made by not having to forge the two additional cylinders. There will have been significant development costs involved with this model as the engine is a completely new ground up design.

    Re: Ferrari 296 GTB (830PS, Hybrid V6)

Tbh I didn't look at the specifics so I speculate. The electric motor powers the front or the rear wheels?

The V6 motor is the same as Giulia QV's motor?

Is the chassis an evolution of the 458/488/F8 chassis?

The hybrid system is similar to the one Stellantis is using for the 3008 Hybrid or the 508 PSE?

Edit. At first glance indeed it is a new engine. Perhaps it is all new design. Is the chassis aluminum or carbon fiber?

    Re: Ferrari 296 GTB (830PS, Hybrid V6)

I think removing the hybrid portion of the car would make a great light-weight, lower cost entry-level Ferrari......

They won't be able to sell it in Europe unless a hybrid. That is the current reality unfortunately.

    Re: Ferrari 296 GTB (830PS, Hybrid V6)

Remove all badges and brand and no one knows it is a Ferrari. How weird is their design since few years.
458 started to look strange front wise but all models after that were not only front wise strange but full body.
