Are the PZero so bad in these conditions

The PZero's are terrible tires and I am impatient to get rid of the original factory set on my Turbo S (991.1). I thought that I was prejuduiced because of my previous bad experience with every hi-end Pirelli set that I've ever had but then a few of my 911 friends told me that they even got rid of the factory Pirelli's immediately.

So yeah, these are bad tires and the only reason we get them is probably some cost-saving by Porsche. On the other hand, I've never had Michelin's that I didn't like...winter or summer.

Are you shure that it is related only to the tires? To me it sounds like combination of tires and brakes.

You think I should probably have it checked by the dealer? I am still not sure - theoretically it is possible that the grip level at these temperatures and on wet surface is indeed very low. I did not expect this however - so I am really surprised and also a bit worried Smiley

I am not sure if this is related to your problem. Last time I had a Macan as a loaner and it was one of the first "cold" days but not below 10°C. I was driving my usual way to my golf course with the Macan in Sport or Sport Plus mode. Nearly every corner ESP started to flash and the car slowed remarkable down. I did have the feeling that the tires has lost all grip. I was late so I didn´t have time to check the tires. I switched the mode to Normal and the Macan began to drive "normal". It was a very strange behaviour of the car.

I couldn't agree less, sorry to say that. The new PZero N1 for the 991.2 Turbo S is one of the best road tires available on the market (look at how it performs in various reviews) but it may not be that good in the wet at lower temperatures. Also, when it is wet, you never really know if there is something else...like a watery mix of dirt, dissolved leaves or even oil or coolant liquid. This is why I am always careful in the wet.

Also, I can assure you that Porsche using the PZero has not as much to do with cost as you think. Pirelli is very flexible when it comes to adapting tires to manufacturer needs and this is what makes Pirelli a good partner for manufacturers.

I also noticed that the PZero is very tire pressure sensitive and works always best with the lowest recommended tire pressure. Unfortunately this is also the so called "comfort" tire pressure which limits speeds to under 270 kph.

Maybe it is indeed the case that the new tire generations do not work well in the wet at temperatures below 15C or so Smiley This would mean: switching to winter tires earlier than usual.

I had a rare and exciting encounter today on the highway . I drove behind the car for 10 minutes, the sight was disappointing for such a car . From the side and the front it was much better .

Bright colors are perfect for a McLaren, that orange P1 I see very week is just stunning. Black should be reserved for Mercedes class S and limos... My next two cars will be red with black roof and volcanic orange smiley

Chris Harris is an overrated and sucky driver
The 675LT is nearly as good as the P1, 918, Laferrari

You are aware that you cannot really compare times because you don't know if road conditions were comparable? Asphalt temperature can be a bitch, same goes to humidity (incl. the air).

Last but not least, the 675LT is friggin fast...this is no secret. Some chassis setups also go well with certain track setups, others don't.

Did McLAren just offered the possibility to have up to 12 years warranty on its models? If true that just adds to the consumer friendly and constant updates that they are doing. I would seriously consider a 4 seater car from them...

I just Googled at and apparently so. That's pretty nice I guess, though the warranties aren't exactly cheap. Another 9 years on top of the first 3 will run you about $40-50K. It's good though for resale and those who want to buy used.

What does the warranty cover? And do you still have to pay for regular service at the dealer?
Isn't that pretty expensive? You have your regular maintenance and on top op that you pay roughly 5k per year in case something extraordinary might fail? And on top of that you still have to insure it!
