For all those waiting for delivery, what accessories to buy?

The next couple of months are going to seem like an age so I thought I would browse the web looking for Porsche related stuff that I can buy in the meantime, you know key rings and the like. Can anyone recommend any good websites which sell genuine or good quality Porsche accessories or even give me some idea of "must have" additions.

I like the look of the filler cap in the tequipment section for starters.

    Main Must Haves:

    spare tire
    lug wrench
    jack

That's a fair point. What does the C2S have as standard. Is it just expanding filler that fills the tyre when punctured? And no Jack! Is that right?

Do you mean spare wheel? Or whats affectionately known in the UK as a "get me ome"!

that's a good link to show you some spare tire info

Re: For all those waiting for delivery, what accessories to

While I was waiting for my 997 C2: I also purchased as ResB recommended: a spare tire, lug wrench, and jack (with the info that maoun recommends). Yes, it does take up almost half the trunk, but at least I'm "spared" from having to wait for roadside assistance. I was able to purchase these items complete as a kit with tire cover on eBay - cost was approx. $400.

Road Angel + a good solicitor

Road Angel or equivalent is great and a good solicitor will be useful when you forget to switch on the Angel. Put him at #2 on your speed dial!

And btw the petrol cap in real life is 'orrible and cheap looking.

Re: For all those waiting for delivery, what accessories to

No jack. It costs us$185 (!). Tire is about us$700. But MIGHT someday be worth it to ya.

Re: For all those waiting for delivery, what accessories to buy?

    1. Filler cap is alu-look plastic.

    2. The key fob you may well get for free when you take delivery - I did.

    3. Couldn't justify the cost of the cover to be honest - it ain't exactly cheap.

    Gaz

Buy the SAME cover but Colgan will put their name on it insted of selling the exact same one thru Porsche.

Any Colgan cover is a quality and good cover. Priced fairly

Where did you purchase the "tire, jack, and wrench" from??]

Re: For all those waiting for delivery, what accessories to

This is the spare tire that I purchased on eBay. It was item number 8017815716. The title read "Porsche 911 996 Spare Tire, Tool Kit & Jack"
[url=http://stores.ebay.com/Road-and-Race-Inc] I have also found on eBay the same spare tire from different sellers from time-to-time. Note: This is not the collapsed spare.

After purchase and getting my 997, I did a test fit and trial ride just to be sure, with no problems.

Re: For all those waiting for delivery, what accessories to

Porsche umbrella #WAP-050-087-12. This umbrella fits into the passenger-side sill cubby. Just like the spare tire, sooner or later you will need it.

Re: For all those waiting for delivery, what accessories to

If it will not be a daily driver, invest in the battery maintainer. Plugs into the cigarette lighter, and you can shut the door on the cord. Crucial if the car is going to be parked for extended periods of time.

It's the 996 and 986 spare; a narrow tread but full diameter tire. Problem is the thing will not fit into the 997 trunk unless it is tilted back. Tilting it effectively ENDS the use of the front trunk for other stuff. Leaving it vertical results in the tire TOUCHING the underside of the hood; this invites denting of that most precious part of the car body. It's a hazard when you tilt it in there too because if you slam brakes it can, slide forward and dent hood. It also has a terrifyingly small 3mm clearance from the front calipers on the "S." It'll work but it's problematic. Collapsible model is "better."
