    To Paint or Not To Paint, That is the ?

    I have a white TT arriving in February. I did not have any of the 'black' rocker panels painted as I thought I liked the two tone look...now I see a few white cars with all black painted, some with just the middle painted etc.

    What is the consensus? Paint everything? Just the middle? Middle and back?

    I figured the front lip would get scraped up pretty easily... good thing this can be rectified at delivery if need be.

    Paint it all ... front, back and sides! I had just my sides painted and now am going to take it back in to get the front and back painted!

    Tulsa how many miles on her and what is the chip situation around the rocker panel?

    Loran, how's NS this time of year! I am originally from Toronto and do business in NS - beautiful place (in the summer!!).

    BTW, IMO, I think just the rocker panels painted (or nothing at all) will be my route at this moment (subject to immediate change of course)...

    Only 800 miles. Not a single chip and I even drove it in the snow two weeks ago. The car is in the shop right now (I just came from there) having a K40 Radar Dectector installed or I'd post some pictures. I won't have the car back till Tuesday, January 2!

    There is a black mud flap looking extension behind the wheels that is either attached to or part of the black piece that I had painted (by the factory) on the sides.

    This mud flap looking thing appears to do a great job keeping the painted sides from getting chipped.

    When I take the car in to have the front spoiler and and rear lower section painted, I am thinking about having the clear film (bra) put on the front and sides.

    I can't get mine out until April at the earliest and I am going through drivers withdrawl. I probably would have gone with the painted skirts were it not for the fear of chipping. Sounds like thats not a big problem afterall.

    the chipping or nicking is a function of where and how you drive your car ....if you find yourself partaking in blu road fun to any extent you will find more evidence of rock and flying ditrius impact than say....daily driving around town or freeway situations....if i had painted lower bits id do 3m film for sure as it really eliminates this sort of annoyance from happening

    make sure you 3M the sides to protect from chips!

    Did you see silverrules car? Looks incredible. I've thought about doing it but often scraped the front spoiler w/ my 996 turbo. I'm thinking maybe the best thing to do would be to have a pre-painted back-up spolier. This way if you scrape the front badly you can just switch to the pre painted back-up and send a new one out to be painted. No down time at the painter's and less aggravation.

    I agree the side skirts definitely need 3M clear protection. I wouldn't go w/ painted skirts otherwise.

    wow....she's a beauty. The Techart headlight color to match piece would complete the front end nicely....
