    Re: 991 Turbo advice

Saw a white 991 C2S on the Amalfi coast. I felt white made the rear look fat and inelegant...

    Re: 991 Turbo advice

I love them both (and I'm not a fan of white cars. For me, white belongs on kitchen appliancesangry). The white one with the pebble grey interior is more unique but I suspect that it will require a substantial amount of work to keep clean. The red with beige interior is less unique, but very striking and will require less elbow grease to keep clean.

    Re: 991 Turbo advice

The white one needs a dark interior IMO...

Thats what the rule of thumb says. Agreed. Until I saw this combo in the flesh (a 991S4). Keep in mind the TT has already a lot of black accents in the exterior, including the black moonroof, lower spoilers and the turbo vents. It creates a very unique proposition once you see it live, you have to see it to believe it. Of all the cars in the showroom, this one was the looker. Everyone agreed.

I am tired of the black and red interiors, my 458 is cuoio (dark beige) and red outside. Wanted to have something different this time, and I read somewhere that red=Ferrari and white=Porsche.

But all colors fit the 991TT like a glove to be honest, choosing a Porsche color is 10X harder than choosing your mate. I tell you Smiley

We only live once, so, lets make it wild.

This is definitely the one!  But with black wheels, a darker interior and maybe black wrapped mirrors...Smiley

But then I would say that.. wouldn't I..?  Smiley

white and agate/pebble not a good combination IMO .. 2 colours of similar shade looking the same but completely different.

    contrast is what is needed.

I agree. Smiley White with a light interior? Not good.

Really love the 991 Turbo(S) in white, combined with all the black accents on the exterior it looks really good IMHO. Even with black wheels if you like it. For the interior it is best to stick with black I think.  If you want to 'add some color' it might be nice to get it with red or yellow safety belts.

Great choice, the 991 Turbo (S)! Did you order it?

    Best Regards,

    Hans

Thanks, I am sure the car will look great, very luxurious. Its ordered, and should be produced end of Nov. if I am lucky, will be getting it around mid January. Good idea to add a color seatbelt. Also added the white dials.

    Re: 991 Turbo advice

White dials? Hmm...too much color again. You need to be careful, a classy look can easily turn into something else if there are too many design "accents". Red belts and white dials? Nope.

Best combo for a white Turbo with glass sunroof: Black wheels, black interior with red stitching (if available) and red seatbelts. Also nice: Carrera red natural leather (sporty)  with black belts and black dials or Espresso natural leather (elegant) with black belts and black dials.

It is YOUR car though, so your taste.

Good advice. However I am firm believer the final white/pebble outcome will look amazing. Just wait and see. I'll dare everyone to be different, not classy Smiley. It's just a car.

Brits seem to love more elegant stuff, maybe reminding them of royalty?   indecision

Almost every GT3 I see here in Germany has black painted rims but I have to admit that too many youngsters in their crappy cars started to paint their rims in black and/or painted their cars in matte black.

Gangster? They usually go bling bling...huge rims, stupid looking body kits, not much black there.

On a more serious note: I think this is an age thing. Older people tend to hate black rims or black linings, they prefer something more elegant and/or classic. I stopped aging at 30, so... broken heart smiley

true in UK too .. the younger generations love black wheels as they signify 'performance'

    Re: 991 Turbo advice

Black wheels always remind me of steel wheels. They were always painted black!

    Re: 991 Turbo advice

I've always wanted black wheels on my Porsches. When I ordered the 997 they were not available from new,  so I later bought a set from Tequipment fitted with tyres.

The black rims had an effect at first but soon I found out that they made the wheels look smaller which visually affected the proportions of the car and they were constantly dusty even if the car looked clean.

After a short time, I went back to the originals and relegated the black ones to my storage room. I tried to sell them but no one wanted to buy surprise

    Re: 991 Turbo advice

Last week we made a short visit to the Porsche Museum for the 50y of 911-show.

On the way home, a 991 Turbo fresh from the production line drove in front of us to the Autobahn with red "Dealer-Factory-numberplate".

As in good old times, when every 911 got some kilometres with a test driver bevore delivery...

Surprisingly, the "white" rear lights look pretty good on a white car but not so good on different colors, incl. black. Weird.

99% Agree. On some very particular cases black wheels make some cars, in some colour combinations, look spectacular.  But it has to be a very specific combo to work out.

    Re: 991 Turbo advice

The design of the wheel actually changes with the black color and if you use matte black, the design is actually visible quite well. It is hidden with metallic paint colors or simple black (which still has some shine in it).

I love black wheels but I can understand why some people don't like them, maybe even depending on their age and region background. Black rims often remind people of cheap steel rims without a cover and I get that but we have 2013 now and I think the difference is clearly visible...and noticeable.

Like colors, this seems to be a matter of personal taste, so we shouldn't really start argueing about it. Some like it, some don't and gladly, Porsche offers something for both sides.

I will be October 3 in Frankfurt, and have the afternoon free. Already tried to book a factory tour in Stuttgart but seems to be a public holiday. Does anyone known if the Porsche dealership in Frankfurt will be open and have a Turbo on display? Any suggestion on what to do? Thanks
