    Cannot Recognize CD

    Whenever I try to eject a CD in my 2005 (PCM 2.1) i get a message "...cannot recognize CD...". The CD doesn't eject and still plays. Took it to the dealer this morning and they are ordering a replacement unit for me. They said that it could be a result of 2 CDs in the in dash player and if so Porsche may not consider it a warranty item. While I don't recall being that careless I guess anything canhappen. My questions, has anyone else experienced this error message? Has anyone else accidently loaded 2 CDs into the player and if so, what was the remedy? Does it sound normal that the player could accept 2 CDs? Any help or info that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Most likely that it's a failed unit. I had exactly the same error message on the day i picked my car up with the first CD inserted. It played cd once and the would not eject or play. PCM unit was replaced under warranty. Sounds like you have the similar problem.

    That's a shame. It seems like the dealer is leaving it open to stick you with it if they choose. Personally I'd stick with the faulty unit story and accept nothing less. That is if push comes to shove.

    Seems to me that the ONLY control YOU (we) have is to slide a CD *as an offering* into the slot and have the unit suck it in.

    Unless you're a stupid Gorilla and start slugging the CD with your fist to get it in there, there's nothing you can do but "offer" a CD into the slot and have the machine suck it in, right?

    So my conclusion, if there's TWO CDs in there, would be the machine is a POS for taking in TWO CDs! Maybe it will take in three CDs too?

    ALSO, It Seems to me that there's got to be a way to manually eject the CD. Find it.

    BTW, if the @#$%^& service guy thought for two seconds he'd realize what I suggest above (about the two CDs) and not worry you with the warrenty thing. (jerk)

    Yes, I'd find a new service writer regardless, wrong attitude with that person.
