    To much time

I'll apologize up front for this probably trivial post. But I'm still in the long wait for my 987S. 2.5 months down, 1.5 months to go. So I'm trying to pass the time in a variety of ways. Now I've got what will seem like a stupid question. If you look at the front bumper of the Boxster on the left side is a small what appears to be circular plug. Anyone know what its for?
And be gentle with me, most of you you know what happens to your mind during the long wait.
    Thanks.

    Too much time

it's the cover for the tow hook receptacle
tow hook is in the tool kit
you can pass the time at ppbb.com, babblers.org, renntech.org, boxsterracing.com, too
reading every post on every porsche/boxster site will give you all the paranoia you ever need

    Re: Too much time

Thanks. I have been spending lots of time at those sites. And yes, they do tend to produce a fair amount of paranoia.

    Re: Too much time

you really should try to hook up with some of the locals (to you) on babblers or renntech to learn more about the car and maintenance/mod tips
and to help you get over the worry and anticipation, and maybe even get a ride or two to tide you over
you'll find that p-car owners on the internet are even nicer once you meet them in person

and always remember to try and wave or flash at other p-cars

    Re: Too much time

As someone who waited four months (and was told the car would arrive in three), I sympathize. Visit and contribute to all the boards (as macsak recommends, because we're all one big support group), do web searches for various 987 photos and aftermarket items, and go to a dealer periodically so you can look at the car and sit in one -- even though it isn't yours. I was also lucky in that I found photos of wtsnet's car, which is the the same seal/sand combination as my own. I had never seen one before, except for the car configurator on the Porsche site.

Oh, and by the way, the wait for delivery is only half the agony. The other half is getting through the break-in period. I have about 700 miles to go.

Good luck and post photos when it arrives!

    Re: To much time

One more thing, paralizer: If the wait stretches on too long, you can always gripe to PCNA. I latched onto my area rep and she asked for priority shipment from Europe after my car had been sitting there for a month after completion, as well as quicker delivery from Baltimore to my dealer. I have some e-mail addresses I can send you, which might help if you need them. My dealer was useless in this regard.

Actually...thats what I did today. Beautiful day here in the Bay Area today. Dropped top on my Miata and took off. Before I knew it I was at one of the local Porsche dealers. So I had no choice but to go in and walk around. Yes, Atlas Grey was the correct color choice for me. The Black is still very nice...but when the dealer can't keep it looking good.
I am still worried about RMS leaks and spending this much $$$ on a car. But whenever I sit in one it just feels sooooo right.
Thanks again everyone for the support. My October build date is getting closer. Fortunately I have vacation and 2 trips for work in October, so that month should go by quick. I'll try not to whine to much in the mean time.

    Re: Too much time

    Hi Paralizer,

I have an October build day for my 987S also When did your dealer tell you that you would get delivery Do you know when in October yours will be built? I was told sometime mid to end Nov. Does that sound right?

I don't have a specific build date in October. My dealer believes it will be towards the beginning of the month. I was told it will take 45 days to ship the car to the west coast of the US. So mid-late November sounds right to me.
