These central lock wheels are already available. But maybe they are introducing a new design.

I am aware of at least six colors specified by the factory for 2010 and beyond, not yet offered, and at least three colors specified for 2011 and beyond as well.  Should be interesting.  Not yet defined if they are model specific, but formula is in place.

    Re: 997.2 Turbo info thread

I had an interesting conversation with the guys at RS Tuning re the new turbo engine. They weren't concerned about the demise of the "GT1" block and seemed to be confident that Porsche knew what they were doing with these latest Di engines and that the new turbo engine would be good and tunable......

Having said that RS tuning strategy nowdays is higher compression and low boost with 1.1bar good for 700hp so it maybe just for the high boost exploda motor tuners that the new engine may prove fragile.....

TB993tt, you can´t never resist on bashing our American tuners who can get +50Hp on atmo engines with only an ECU, exhaust and sport filter Smiley or even + 700Hp on stock internals 996TT/997TT Smiley

This seems like a joke, but have seen some tuners advertising some crazy power gains with mods that will never delivery the power claims. I still don´t understand how these magicians are still in the business.

    Re: 997.2 Turbo info thread

OK. Since it was posted already...

    997.2 Turbo

    Press release 7th August 2009

    3.8L DFI Biturbo

    500ps

    PDK option

    312km/h max

Acceleration numbers are already posted in this thread.

Design changes pretty mild. Price increased.

    Re: 997.2 Turbo info thread

Thanks! There was a rumour about a new (optional?) paddle(+,-) steering wheel.

    Any information?

Many accelerations times were posted on this thread, what are the final official figures?
20Hp increase seems a bit low, but I´m sure the PDK will make it look more like 50Hp increase.

With 500hp "only" Porsche can't really keep up with the competition.

Remember though, that Porsche HP are real and in many cases the minimum.

This cannot be said about some competitors whose cars are not consistent and with a deviation between declared and real output.

    Smiley

    Ferrari F 430 - 490HP - Nordschleife = 7.55min

    Porsche Carrera S - 385HP - Nordschleife = 7.50min

With a difference of 100hp. F599 has 235hp more, which gives him lead of 3sec over a Carrera S...

....and the list continues, its not only about the HP  figure...its about the overall dynamic. Looking at the recent line-up with second generation of PASM, it seems that the next gen turbo will do a huge step forward in light of suspension and handling, likely also improvemnt for the 4WD drive.

I knew that this would come. Of course the power figure isn't the only important thing and I'm well aware that other things like chassis, electronics etc. are crucial as well. As well as I know what Porsche does achieve with their relatively low power figures.

But then, 550hp wouldn't hurt either. Smiley

Sure, but this is the Porsche money making policy. Good for them bad for customers.

Give things in doses and ask the customer to pay, hence the various S models. There will be a Turbo S for sure with +50PS costing many Euros per extra PS, unfortunately.

Supposedly, the Turbo Engine-PDK interaction will make things very difficult. It could just be rumour, of course.

    Re: 997.2 Turbo info thread

     It's rumour, my friend

PDK has limit of 790 Nm

They will make Stage2 up to 750 Nm and after that strenghten the transimission as it is done now for Stage 3 and higher

So everybody will have its chance

    Re: 997.2 Turbo info thread

So the GT1 is dead as far as Turbo's are concerned?! This is a sad day.
