    Which proves how good the Michelin Cup R tires are
    No wonder they make you sign a waiver to use them in wet at your own risk. The only street car that fits them stock, after BMW tried to brake the "promised" 8min barrier at the ring during CSL development and failed, they fitted semi-slicks as stock and problem solved

    These Michelin Pilot Cup tires are BMW CSL and GT3 RS optional tires. Such is current trend with CSL, GT3 RS, 360 CS and the likes of them, to adress the weekend track driver with a chassi that is track oriented, as well as suitable tyres.
    So they are cheap seconds to gain on your track laptimes, try to get the same gain by increasing HP on your car for the same money....
    Nothing wrong there in my opinion, since more and more manufacturers are aiming for the same market: wealthy weekend track drivers. The sales off the Ferrari 360 CS outshined the"regular" 360, so Ferrari will have the CS option across the range given time...
    Hey, maybe we'll get a Boxter S RS and a Cayenne Turbo RS soon as well, you'll never know...
    BMW are planing on a broad range of CSL cars in a near furure, the 3,5 and 6 series M cars will get that diet/testostereon treatment.
    All of these cars will get the Michelin Pilot Cups or better.

    When you say "optional tires", do you mean "factory approved optional tires"?

    I think you will find that Michelin Cup tires are not factory approved for the GT3 RS!

    Their wet grip was not good enough for BMW to fit them to the CSL for any customer not prepared to sign a liability waiver, so draw your own conclusions.
