    Re: F430 presentation

    Thanks for the news

I also thought the new car would weight less than the modena, (the new engine is very light)

the engine will have an efficiency of 117bhp/l, that seems correct, the stradale should do 125 bhp/l, so it would give 530 bhp... very nice

    The weight ratio for the
    F 430 2.57 Kilo/bhp
    430 stradale 2.30 Kilo/bhp

    For Info:

    Mc Laren f1 1.79 Kilo/bhp
    Enzo 2.08 Kilo/bhp
    f40 2.30 Kilo/bhp
    f50 2.36 Kilo/bhp
    Murcielago 2.84 Kilo/bhp
    360 cha stradale 3.01 Kilo/bhp
    gallardo 3.20 Kilo/bhp
    360 Modena 3.45 Kilo/bhp
    996 turbo 3.71 Kilo/bhp
    Porsche 997 (s) 4.23 Kilo/bhp

    Re: F430 presentation

I'm beginning to feel a little weak in the knees...

    Re: F430 presentation

You know what I realy like about this car, the really big bracke cooling dukts on the side of the front wing, it makes it look extrime like the 360 gt

    Re: F430 presentation

Expect the 430 gt(gtc?) to get 550/560 bhp at about 10.000 RPM

Except for the new Corvette Z06 coming next year (500-575hp and 2,900 lbs) for 1/3 the price - not that I wouldn't rather have the F-car

I wouldn't bet on it, if i was you..

How would they achieve such weight reduction? The chassis is already aluminium, right?

    Re: F430 presentation

    Or the limited production $100K 625 hp " Blue Devil " Corvette lightweight due in MY 2007 . But then it's still a Corvette. ( I had a '97 ).

    Re: F430 presentation

    Sergini has failed .....

I was on the track from 18:00 to 19:30 .......but i saw only a red Fiat ducato ....Ferrari F1 team.
I saw a lot of peaple in the box ...but no cars!
Unfortunatly our friend (Ferrari F1 manager) wasn't in fiorano ....
    so ...nothing ......
I have only theese poor pictures .......

near the track there were a lot (20 or more) gran turismo pullman ....all with black windows ....and a lot of maserati quattroporte ...back with black windows ......mafia rules

    Re: F430 presentation

the only "sportly car" I saw ....was my "truck" ....

    'night guys !

    Re: F430 presentation

    Sorry man .

    We appreciate you trying though

    Re: F430 presentation

Like I told before. I think there wasn't an introduction at all !!!!

You couldn't miss 1000 people who where invited for the introduction in Maranello. The town isn' t that big. btw I found this news form yesterday:

    From www.autoracing1.com...
In a scoop from Corsanews.it, Autoracing1.com was able to obtain this spy photo of the new Ferrari F430 taken today in the streets around Fiorano, Italy. The mayor of Fiorano, where the Ferrari test track is, closed a few streets so Ferrari could test their new car called the F430. Luca Montezemolo was not able to witness the test because he was busy with his new new job as President of Fiat, but he spoke through TV to those in attendance at the private test. The new car will carry a V8 with more power than the Modena. The engine is similar to that used in their Maserati cars. In the future the Alfa Romeo 8C may use the same engine. Ferrari hopes that the new F430 will be introduced at the end of the year in Detroit and Los Angeles. Before then, Ferrari F1 test driver Luca Badoer will be the primary tester of the new F430.

    Re: F430 presentation

Yesterday I also visited the presentation of the new F430 Monza... here some information: weight: 1.450 kg, horsepower: 490 ("nearly 500"), 0-100 km/h: 4,0. Carbon brakes are optional. To be honest: This car looks great (interior is very cool too (carbon or aluminium look) and the steering wheel has a "power on" button and some other control possibilities (new Ferrari patent)!!! :-)

Uhmmm....1450kg?? The old is 1390kg...sound strange and very different from what I have been told.
    I will investigate more.

    Re: F430 presentation

I guess the '150kg less' theory just got dumped
1200kg is almost impossible (for a 'normal' car, anyway), even dry weight.

    Re: F430 presentation

Was Ferrari inspired by this old F1 car for the nose:

When Ferraristi get carried away...I wonder nobody mentioned the new "warp drive".

I think the 1450 kg weight figure and 490 HP power figure sound right and it would offer a huge performance increase compared to the 360 Modena.
I don't see how modern sports cars can get any lighter without compromising safety or substantially raising production cost. You'll be surprised to hear how many "tricks" Porsche used to keep the new 997 almost at the same weight level as the 996 and they still didn't fully succeed.

    Re: F430 presentation

Could be. But I wonder why they take their inspiration from an 1961 F1-car (type 156)?

Well, they could try to maker their cars SMALLER again, instead of getting bigger and bigger with almost every model change...

    WHAT?!?? Why?

A Ferrari engine doesn't belong anywhere except in a Ferrari... yeah, okay they can sell previous generation F1 engines to other F1 teams, that's fine, and Maserati's okay too, but their *latest* creation (with all the supposed fancy F1-borrowed components) -- in an Alfa Romeo road car??? (a road car that incidentally looks hideous, but that's subjective)

And why does everyone have to keep repeating.. "will be similar to the one used in Maseratis"? Of course they're similar, any two contemporary V8's designed and manufactured by the same guys will obviously heavily share technology, so all this is just publicity talk... But what's Ferrari trying to do by qualifying their engines in this manner to the press -- improve the Maserati image, eh? But at the cost of their lovely and hot-selling V8 line??

    Re: F430 presentation

That's globalisation for you my man!
The V6 in the Dina was from Fiat!
The Aston V12 comes from two ford V6s!
V6 in the Chrysler Crossfire is a Merc.
Renault and Nissan share engines too.
Ok, they're not Ferrari but my point is that, to make more money, you need to save money
The Alfa C8 has not been approved yet anyway.

    Re: F430 presentation

    Hi all.
I have just received feedback from my friend on pictures sent....and the right one are the "Mexican": the car is 100% original, no photoshop (on the front).
Just an additional info confirmed by my friend: maybe the large part of you (Farina ) noticed the on the two front air intakes, only half is open (the part closer to the center) as the side part is "close" (in reality air is passing through, maybe for brake cooling). You can notice it in the picture I am attaching here (Sorry, I am very bad with pictures...Farina?? ).
    Some other info:
    - 5 cars were showed
    - F1 is an option
    - the engine start button as well as the suspension settings are on the steering wheel;
    - he told me about an electronic differential that should make the car handling far better than the old one;
    - official prices should be comunicated to dealers soon. As he has been allocated one of the first cars, he should know it very soon.

This is it. I think I gave you almost all the infos available from my source. I hope they will be confirmed by facts.

Yes!!!! Although Ferrari is also guilty of this (but at least I can fit inside the 355 and later cars - always hit my head in the 308-328 and barely made it in the 348...)

    Re: F430 presentation

A bit more info from www.ferrarichat.com, from someone who was in the presentation, too :

The enzo-like rear - as in the drawings shown in this forum. Front basically an enhanced 360 - Hybrid between the 360 and 360GT with an enzo-ish airtunnel in the middle lower bumper. Gallardo-like headlights - position light is LED based (very neat). Inside completely redone - now suspension adjustment is on the steering wheel just as the engine on/off. The details are a LOT better than the 360 - the rear is something to be admired I think. The details are fantastic - even the exhausts are good looking. 490bhp - 0-62 in 4s flat. Don't know the weight, but I would suspect around the current 360. Engine is a 4,3l with 25% more torque than the 360 - Carbon/Ceramic brakes is now an option (which is coincidentally also is on the 575 now).

What else... hmmm... 19" wheels standard (nothing smaller will fit the the carbon/ceramic brakes). In my opinion it's just a more "complete" car than the 360. I did not meet anybody who did not like it. Carbon interior is also a good looking option.

You can't see it here, but the drivers side mirror has a "F430" embossed in it. The front is a tribute to the "sharknose" which they also had at the presentation. In my opinion it looks very good in the real world.

What's not obvious in this picture is the details, such as the fins in the air-tunnel beneath the car and the exhaust detailing. There's a sort of a built-in spoiler in the rear, where the rear lifts about (I would guess) 5cm (2") at the end in a curve. It looks good.

    Re: F430 presentation

In a later post, he also confirmed that the Mexican front-end is spot-on.
Supposedly looks much better in person.
