Very very sad.
An acquaintence of mine has a Boxster. He mentioned letting his "responsible, honor roll" 18 yo kid drive it on his own. I went into overdrive trying to tell him that is a big mistake no matter how responsible he _THINKS_ his kid is.
Compared it to giving a kid a kilo of cocaine and a loaded gun and leaving him alone in the house for the weekend if he promises not to do anything stupid.
I think I got thru to him and ruined the kid's fun.

Like I said, we're not all irresponsible idiots even though I will agree their are a LOT of dumb ones out there.
I'm 18 by the way.

When you become a parent you become smart enough to realize you can't predict even your own kids!
We all think we have a realistic view of our kids but, if I gave my "very responsible" kid the powerful fast sports car and he kills himself and a friend how will I feel the rest of my life?
Just not worth it.

(TIP FOR PARENTS: Anytime their's a fatal accident with a teen, cut out/print out article and leave it on the kitchen floor in the morning. Sends a good message) then odds are the kids will be much more responsible with the way they drive.

It's hormonal chemistry. Science has not studied it enough. Give the most exemplary kid, with hormones raging, just the right stimulus (a fast hot car) and he just _might_ start doing the most incredibly stupid things. It's unpredictable.
