    C63 507 Edition 2013 wagon questions vs RS6 Avant

    Having fun with the e63 S wagon in USA, i see the C63 507 wagon is only $120 usd in New Zealand and might make a good all round touring rig.

    but not being a US model, my info is limited.

    Does anyone have one?  Are they 4WD?

    the alternative is

    Audi RS6 Avant 4.0T FSI Quattro

    which is $165k USD....

    Which would you choose?

    I think the Benz is RWD - looks like lots of fun, but maybe not so practical in cold weather locations...

    I think the Benz is RWD - looks like lots of fun, but maybe not so practical in cold weather locations...

    I think Watt meant as one of his NZ cars.... and NZ is not really cold.  Hard to see why you need an AWD sedan there unless it is for blasting up Ruapehu to ski on north island! or spending lots of time in Queenstown area in mid winter?

    I had the E63 not the C63 in my head. The E you can get in 4Matic but you're right probably not the C.

    4WD is good with massive torque  just in rain...  NZ has lots of that, and lots of gravel and dirt roads which 4wd is good for, most roads are low so little snow driving... 

    I love the linear stability f the e63 S i'm glad i didnt get a 2013 with 2wd...

    911s do very well with two wheel drive but the engine is in the .....  where the drive wheels are.... but i notice the turbo s is 4wd,could be torque relatedwink

    The RS6 is certainly a nice car but looking at the price difference (RS6 vs. C63), maybe a S6 would suffice? Smiley

    rs6 is not the same league in terms of performance compared to the others

    3.9 0-100!!

     

    but its 250k AUD here..... almost 100k more then a "normal" C63

    I'd say the current C63 is one of the last of a generation, I'd surely take the chance to own one over an RS6. A 6.2 507hp V8 in a medium-sized car is something to celebrate. The fact that it's considerably cheaper only adds to my choice. kiss

    Just take it with an LSD!

    I'd say the current C63 is one of the last of a generation, I'd surely take the chance to own one over an RS6. A 6.2 507hp V8 in a medium-sized car is something to celebrate. The fact that it's considerably cheaper only adds to my choice. kiss

    This fact actually made it very hard for me to give away my C63 AMG Coupe. I actually wanted to keep this car forever, as a weekend fun toy. Now I kind of regret it, the car sucked on rainy roads and in snow but was a lot of fun when the roads were dry and the temperature above 15°C.

    I agree with RC.  C63 has ridiculous traction (or lack of) in the wets.

     

    and yes, the engine is a gem and the end of the NA era for Merc.   and they are heaps of second hand C63s on the market so they are not exactly hard to get hold of should you ever choose to get one.

    This makes for poor new zealand car portfolio planning  if my other cars are 2014 GT3 and a scud or 599....  neither RS6 or 507 are available here is USA so both are nifty for a Yank to be able to drive...  Both cars are much more appealing than a 4.0 litre Cayenne diesel which is the other option also not available in USA...

    Porker's point well taken though....  I'll drive them both in March when we're in Waihi Beach, NZ and go up to Auckland for Thursday Porsche Club cocktails...Smiley
