Yes a replacement for the California

noone1:Guess the California T wasn't selling too well. It came out in late 2014 and is already replaced.
Three years...I don't see a problem, time for something new.

This is a normal product cycle for Ferrari.
Huh? All their recent cars haven't debuted until like 5-6 years after the previous one. Cali was Oct 2008, Cali T was Feb 2014.
This one is showing up only 3.5 years after Cali T.

Whoopsy:Is that suppose to be the California's replacement? Guessing changing the name from the USA to Italy will bring it up market a bit
I was going to say the same, but didn't want to be banned for Political speech

nberry:Same price range as the T?
I always thought the California was the Boxster of the Ferrari line. The Portofino changes nothing.
I'm not a fan of open top cars, no matter the brand....
But the entry level horsepower now starts with a 6xx hp, unlike others, that drug you with some slogans and a sped up video using the wrong tacho for a different model around the track with a ground breaking lap time and hardly bumping up the power within it's lifetime cycle, squeezing you through nonsense options and leather between the thighs and glutes + extra charge for an open top using cloth roof in this day and age
Looking at it more, it looks very generic. Cali T was love it or hate it I guess, but at least it was a possible "love it". This is just meh. I think the T is better looking on the outside. Interior is obviously better on the Portofino since it's newer.
I don't know why they're trying to make this aggressive looking. It's not an aggressive model and shouldn't be. It's a casual cruiser for women.
crayphile:Grant:is the Dino still happening?
No one is sure. They are too busy planning the FUV
(Ferrari Utility Vehicle)
Ok, thanks

The California might have started as a cruiser but now it has 600hp and they gave it the look to go with it, nothing wrong with that. They also made the ride more sportier as customers demanded it. It will surely sell very well and Ferrari knows that this is an almost unique product (hard roof convertible, 4 seats, 600hp sporty drive with the associated look and brand name exclusivity).
Resale value is also much better % wise than a 911, which says a lot about how well the car is perceived and simply how good it is.

Not here in CH. The Cali is depreciating in % like a 911, which in absolute value is much more than a 911.
Also, if you measure good in lap times the 911 is better. I bet this thing is not much faster than a Boxter Spyder around the Ring, because the Cali T was not faster than a 18 year old 360 Modena around Fiorano.
