The 458 has been in Europe for at least 6 months

How have the resale prices been holding up or is it too early for resale? Are buyers required to sign one year leases promises to sell the car back to Ferrari before selling to anyone else?

Re: The 458 has been in Europe for at least 6 months

On my market answer is NO to your second question. But, my market(Croatia/Slovenia) is a small one...

Value in EU? Excellent according to mobile.de... Many speculators there as well...

BTW, I know a guy from western EU who bought 458 to sell it for sheer profit. He WAS an excellent Ferrari client and bought all recent Ferrari models...

Re: The 458 has been in Europe for at least 6 months

There is a premium but not even close to the 430/360 days!! I know one dealer in Europe who has over 10 Italis with an average 15% markup. That's nothing Compared to perivious models.

These days Ferrari is happy for every single buyer... If you bought a 458 you might do with it whatever you want. They will not care Smiley

And I can tell you that the F dealer is not happy at all about it , and trys to block it

I love the 458 but buying one now over here in Europe would be social suicide for me

Re: The 458 has been in Europe for at least 6 months

The cars are just coming into the US. Unless there are lease restrictions (if the buyer paid cash I doubt Ferrari could do anything about it) they should be hitting the resale market soon.

I am also hearing that though the 458 is well thought of many previous and present owners, many like myself are hesitant to order the car. There are just too many high end super cars on the market and most will experience huge depreciation. I don't mind some depreciation but do object to epic depreciation.

Re: The 458 has been in Europe for at least 6 months

Today I visited a friend who is in the car business and he told me that I could have a Ferrari 458, GERMAN car and brandnew, for the same year delivery. It seems that Ferrari can't move these cars as easily as they did years before. It would still be a 5 month wait though but I waited the same amount of time for my X5 M.

On the other hand, these are great days for car enthusiasts - if you buy cars for just driving and enjoying them on the road times are much better than before Smiley

Re: The 458 has been in Europe for at least 6 months

Another issue that is surfacing here in the US is many well off people are avoiding conspicuousness of wealth particularly with cars. The recession has changed the car culture of US drivers. Flashy cars are not as acceptable as they have been in the past. I guess we are catching up with Europe.

Also, exacerbating the situation is there are many outstanding high performance sport cars at very reasonable prices compared to Ferrari.

However, in Asia it is a different story and Ferrari will find  receptive customers.

2-3% has always been possible with Ferrari in Germany (at least I managed to get such small discount twice) Smiley
