    Ruby Red?

    Anyone know how I can get some more info on the new MY08 Ruby Red metallic paint option?

    I assume I have to just wait for PAG to send my OPC a sample?! Or can I contact PAG direct and ask them to send me a pic or two? What do you think?

    Those of you who have ordered Ruby Red Cabriolets which are already on the Production line, are you just going on blind faith that it will be nice?

    I assume it will be a little like the old Ruby Red but a more up-to-date metallic version:

    Not any pic of Ruby Red Metallic yet...
    But, you can watch this thread in German forum, here are few pics of new 997 Turbo cabrio in Slate Grey Metallic with new Natural Leather Carrera Red.

    Personally, I like that Natural Leather Carrera Red very much. Far better looking then Terrakotta IMHO...

    Hello Alex,

    Decision this important on this expensive of a car, especially with a previously unreleased color, my humble opinion is you would like to see the car in person. I wouldn't ask this if you were from the US, but is a factory visit completely out of the question?

    It's a good idea. I am planning a road trip to Northern Italy in August so perhaps I can make a small detour via Stuttgart. How late can I leave it before my colour spec is final?

    The other option is just wait for someone in the UK to get a Ruby Red Cab and pop round the corner to see it - as I live right next to Porsche GB HQ and all UK cars come through there first I believe.

    Vibe I get from the godawful pictures on the Configurator (why not use photos of real cars, Porsche ? I mean, would it be so hard ?) is that it could be between Arena and Orient Red.

    Here is a small comparison. From top to bottom:

    - Guards vs Guards
    - Ruby vs Orient+Arena
    - Carmona vs Carmona

    I really will need to see the car in person though before finalizing my spec as many have suggested.

    From these pics ruby looks stunning IMO. Carmon looked always a bit too dark and too purple to me. Orient has a hint of pink which I don't like.
    I've always been a fan of arena and ruby seems to come very close, with a little less blue and a little more red, which seems to work out fine.

    Refreshing to see such colours, sick of silver, slightly darker silver, grey, slightly darker grey, black and grey with a brown hint etc etc

    Next car I get will be whatever colour the wife fancies - as long as its a shade of grey! - not

    I was told today that come resale a red Porsche will be worth Pounds7-9k less than a Black/Silver/Grey/Blue one.

    I am now hoping that Ruby red isn't that great after all and I will want to stick with Cobalt blue.

    Got bored waiting for pics, made my own.

    Took the Carmona red turbo pic and juiced up the red colour balance in photoshop. Shouldn't be too far away from Ruby given the the P configurator for MY08 TT Cabs.

    I like it!

    Much better than carmona, which was too dull IMO, brings back the memories of good old arena red.
    Very nice colour for the "respectable" models (not the GT-ones).

    Photo taken today at my OPC. Ruby red looks better in person, but I still want to see it on a Turbo myself before I make such a decision.

    The problem with looking at the samples in the dealership is that the artificial light usually changes the hue significantly. Too bad you couldn't take the sample outside and shoot it in natural light. I had an arena red 993TT, from the photos ruby looks more orange.

    Yes I would say a little more orange than Arena, but still nice.

    I did take the sample over to the window and see it in daylight. I think it looked more red then.

    And I put the sample in some shade and it looked really deep dark red.

    The Midnight look blue-er than it really is, the ruby look quite orange-ish, the cobalt looks paler too. Did you color correct the pic?

    Yup, I auto-corrected the levels, the colour, and the contrast in Photoshop.

    I think it was the lighting in the room with the samples is distorting them a little.
