    Adios Supercharger? Adios AMG engines?

    The rumor that Mercedes AMG plans to abandon the supercharger in favor of normally aspirated engines and turbo chargers is getting stronger and stronger.
    And now the most disturbing part of this rumor: it seems that Daimlerchrysler wants to abandon special AMG engine development and to develop and build the engines for AMG cars by themselves.
    Apparently they want to cut development cost and maybe to even cut off a little bit of AMG's "famous" independence from their big mother.
    I'm not sure this is a good idea, if true.

    Do you mean DaimlerChrysler building engines for AMG or Mercedes Benz building engines for AMG. If it is DCX, then that is a very bad thing.

    Do you have anymore info on the types of engine for the E or CLS AMG models?

    Maybe the ideia of abandon the supercharger engines might be due to reliability, maybe those AMG supercharger engines are not so reliable as you might think.

    Maybe the ideia of abandon the supercharger engines might be due to reliability, maybe those AMG supercharger engines are not so reliable as you might think.

    The SLR has a supercharged engine, and Mclaren has made it clear that any faults worldwide, a technician will come 24 hours/7 days a week. I don't think they'd install and run such a powerplant if reliability was an issue, come on this is Mercedes we're talking about, not Ford.

    Are you kidding? Daimlerchrysler is Mercedes and Mercedes is Daimlerchrysler. There is no difference.

    Are you kidding? Daimlerchrysler is Mercedes and Mercedes is Daimlerchrysler. There is no difference.

    RC, not everyone knows everything like you do. We are all here to learn and share thoughts and opinions .
    I think, for one, that it would be really stupid for DC to take AMG engine production to MB. It would tarnish the AMG image and make the cars(for those of us who are in the know) a little less special, not to mention what will be the purpose of the Affalterbach facility's exsistence? AMG already does a great job, why stop a good thing?

    RC, I think you miss understood my question. I do understand that DCX is Mercedes and Chrysler. DCX is my client. I visit Auburn Hills, MI, every quarter for business. But, even though I visit DCX, Chrysler division, Mercedes is not our client. But, Mercedes is our client in Australia because Chrysler and MB are combined down there. So is South America. So, the term DCX is very different to me based on the different countries. Sorry for the confussion.

    So I guess I was trying to ask was clarification on this statement.
