    How loud is this car?

    I just took a drive and was using the last 1500 rpm to redline on some twisties. Having some fun getting maximum performance.

    To bystanders the SOB must have sounded like it was screaming.

    When I did this with my BMWs (over the past 30 years) I never thought I would be waking people up miles away so they can call the cops to complain.

    Just how loud is this car? Seems kinda stupid to be attracting all that attention. Even stupider to be going 40mph and sounding like you're doing 100.

    Any ideas?

    Try it in a tunnel. It might give you some idea.

    Negative, just the stock 997S.

    Carlos' Prius? Sure! Would be great to live long enough so see the same torque, HP/weight, acceleration and crusing range in an electric car

    Have you tried out a Prius? I have lol, when you floor it it gets pretty loud, at least on the inside! But it's from the motor straining so hard to get the car moving! There doesn't seem to be much in the way of sound dampening either inside the car. I'm sure this is to help save wieght.

    Follow a friend with the same car. I understand the regular "S" sounds rather good at speed.
