    UK-spec bi-xenon adjustment for continental driving

    Does anyone know how easy it is to switch UK 997s bi-xenon headlamps over to dip the other way for driving on the continent?

    I can find nothing in my manual relating to this. Is it as simple as flicking a lever over, or do you need to get inside the units themselves?

    I haven't looked specifically yet as I haven't taken the car out of the country but in my 996 which litronics there was a simple lever you pushed up or down depending which way you were going. I'm sure it must be the same on the 997 on the basis that they wouldn't have made a retrograde step. I will have a look for you later to see if its in the same place as the 996.

    I have read it in the manual somewhere. Can't remember exactly where, but towards the back of the owners manual from recolection. There is a switch you have to flick across to adjust - appears quite simple. If you can't find it let me know and I'll check out the page number.

    pardon my question, but would it work the same for regular halogen headlights? Thank you.

    For those of us that do not live in the UK, why do you have to do this?

    'Cause we drive on the left here, and everywhere else in Europe drives on the right.

    Which makes overtaking, turning from a side-road to a main road, and going round roundabouts very confusing!

    (not sure you all know about roundabouts? Europe is keen on using them instead of light-controled junctions. Except we also put traffic lights on them sometimes. And don't even get me started on the Magic Roundabout in Swindon!)

    Dipped beam headlights dip not only downwards but also to the kerb (i.e. away from the centre-line on the road). If you take a UK car into mainland Europe, it will dazzle oncoming traffic as the degree of downward inclination in the beam is less on the left than it is on the right.
