    question about noises...

    I was driving my fathers 996 cab a little while ago and every time i got above say 20 ish mph there would be a dinging (similar to the noise a car makes when the seat belt isn't on...it was like 3 charms..) it was only when i shifted from 1st to 2nd...

    Does anyone know what this is...??? The car wasn't cold, the doors were shut, the top was all the way down with the light off on the dash, parking break not engaged, and selt belt was on.... ideas?

    Was someone else in the car with you? If so, did your passenger hear it too? Maybe cellphone message beeps?

    no one in the car with me....and not a cell phone..It has happened more than once....

    I asked a guy at a dealer who had 'extensive porsche knowledge' and he said that it could be a oil temp moniter (but car wasn't cold and weather was decent) or it could be a warning about the clutch... but its been in for service and there haven't been any issues..the car only has like 10,000 miles and is an 01
