For me a "lightweigth package" is absolutely out of place for a car like the Turbo/S. Smiley

Re: OFFICIAL: New Porsche 911 Turbo S (2020)

The rear would look soooooo much better without the Porsche lettering!!!  Not only dickish but also fugly. Front license plate not required in Kansas - that cleans up the front nicely.  Somewhat surprised they did not write Porsche under the front badge in big script!   Not like it is easy to confuse it for something else.
Other than that I’m a fan. Nice evolution.  Lightweight version is silly though.  Maybe a giant gas tank version would be more like it. 600 mile range would be popular spec these days and it would stand apart.  120 liter tank anyone?

Re: OFFICIAL: New Porsche 911 Turbo S (2020)

The "911 turbo S" lettering is a zero cost delete option.  The "Porsche" lettering can be blacked out but not sure it can be deleted.

Face it, the turbo/turbo S has moved towards the GT (grand touring) side of sports car over the years.

It is still a very capable sports car but offering a package that tip the scale back towards the 'sporty' side is always welcome.

A great side effect of having Dr. Walliser put in charge of 911s.

Dr. Walliser has already proven to be one of the greatest manager that Porsche ever had.

I wonder how much weight is saved beyond just offering the LWB seats (those have to save the vast majority of the 66 pounds over the fully featured electric seats that are standard on the Turbo S)?

Re: OFFICIAL: New Porsche 911 Turbo S (2020)

That package is going to be the preview for the "sportclassic", just include the Ducktail...and jack up the priceindecision

Re: OFFICIAL: New Porsche 911 Turbo S (2020)

The Turbo Cab with a few options will cost around $250,000. It just doesn't look like a $250,000 car when compared to a MC or Ferrari. Performance wise its in the ballpark but......angry

Bit confusing as it seems LW package doesn't include optional carbon fiber roof (for Coupes).

If my read is correct, P claims cf roof is 30% lighter than standard steel (non-sunroof) roof: is that 30lbs savings?

Importantly, does that ?30lbs savings, along w/optional lower sport chassis, change the center of gravity and steering/chassis balance more than the raw weight savings may suggest?

Interesting that no use of cf hood (from 991TTS Exclusive) or cf/Mg wheels.

Also fascinated that P doesn't properly publicize the rumored advances in braking capability in 992TTS, esp seen in 0-100MPH-0 type testing; have heard these braking advances are quite impressive in overall 992TTS performance: effectively weight savings in some sense.
