First Aventador Break Down; And The Winner Is ...

I don't know how this guy is viewed in Europe, but here in America he is seen as a tad Eurotrash and douchey.

Don't ask me how he achieved the status but he's not very well received.

Well this is annoying: Real Madrid player Cristiano Ronaldo looks unhappy when his Lamborghini Aventador breaks down in Madrid city centre

Around the UK, footballers and their supercars have regularly been spotted getting ticketed for parking in disabled bays or no-parking zones.

Ronaldo treated himself to the car last month as a present to himself for his 27th.

The car goes from 0 to 100 kilometres-per-hour in just 2.9 seconds and has a top speed of 349.2 kph.

But with the average speed limit in central Madrid being 50kph, Ronaldo probably doesn't get anywhere near his top speed.

Ronaldo is renowned as a huge fan of luxury cars.

Since he signed with Manchester United nearly nine years ago, he has owned a Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, Bentley Continental GT Speed, Porsche Cayenne Turbo, Rolls-Royce Phantom, Audi R8, Bugatti Veyron, BMW X5 4.8 iS, Bentley Arnage, Ferrari F430 and Porsche 911 Turbo.

In 2009, he famously wrote off his £200,000 Ferrari just two days by crashing it in a tunnel in Manchester.

I enjoy a lot watching him when he plays well, even more than Messi, because of his explosive playing style.

How he dresses or whom he dates or what car he drives (remember the 599 crash in a Manchester tunnel whilst being chased by van De Sar in a Bentley) don't interest me much.

IMO sports people should get attention for what they do on the track and field not for their lifestyles, which are usually lousy.

I agree, to an extent.  These athletes are supposed to be the role models of children worldwide.  Who wants their kids looking up to someone who's an ***hole and treats their fans like garbage (I'm not saying Ronaldo in particular treats his fans like garbage)?  The same fans that pay incredible amounts of money to enable these athletes to live their lives of luxury.

With that said, I hope this isn't the first of many Aventadors to break down!

Re: First Aventador Break Down; And The Winner Is ...

After my son saw some professional soccer players driving around in expensive cars, my son is a car addict, yesterday he decided to become a professional soccer player. My son plays in a semi-professional junior soccer league (regional, nothing really "important") and they already won the championship for their age category last year but it is impossible to predict if someone has the talent and/or actually has the luck too to become a professional player. For every professional player who became a celebrity, there are probably 1000 other players who are good but not good enough and never had a real chance to make it.

So I told my son to forget about professional soccer, he needs to be good at school and if he loves playing soccer along the way, I have nothing against it. Unfortunately, at a certain age, the junior soccer clubs over here become more of a beer drinking club  rather than a soccer club. No thanks.

Regarding Ronaldo, keep in mind that I'm not a huge soccer fan and I couldn't care less about him: Why so much hostility against him ? He is a kid from a poor family, his father was an alcoholic and died pretty young and he made it. He is also a fashion model, he seems to work for his money and he even has a kid which apparently he takes care of. He is very young, so cut him some slack. I see people dressed like that almost every day over here in my hometown, most of them are of non-German origin (former Yugoslavia, Albania, Turkey and...very seldom...Russians) but I also have a german customer who dresses like that. My wife always claims that I look like a lumberjack most of the time  but I would be caught only dead dressed like that, especially at my age (46). indecision

    I agree with RC.

If I am that rich/famous I would blow money a lot more/quicker than him!

Hi RC, I agree to what you write - i have no hostility against him either..not being a big football fan either...yes I agree..young kid..making lots of money..but he doesnt pay himself  - its the "society" - the fans - ths clubs that can afford to pay these salaries..so we should rather blame them..

Good luck for your son too..its not an easy decision..but he will have to try.. if at the age of 25 it becomes clear that it wouldnt work then he should try something else..

Re: First Aventador Break Down; And The Winner Is ...

I don't want my son to be a professional athlete, I want him to finish school, to study whatever he likes and then to get a  serious job. His sister wants to become a dentist, which in my opinion is a very good idea. Maybe they could work together but you know how parents make plans for their kids but they never actually work out that way. Still...we are (mentality) a little bit different than the typical parents, we try to strongly influence our kids...unlike others who give them the freedom to choose...and to end up without any higher education.  My parents pushed me too and it was for my good.

Thats not giving them freedom IMO , thats slaking off in their parenting duties, giving them freedom to go by trial and error can be very costly to them when its about life desitions and mentalities. Just like parents who do not make the effort to set boundaries and limits in the early life of their children, and afterwords when they grow up its too late and then its societyy's problem. I'm with you, parents should be their most important influence IMO, unfortunately not all parents can offer a positive influence on their children.

I remember hearing about the former England player, John Barnes. His mum insisted that he finished his O Levels (age 16) and A Levels (age 18) before he turned pro! She was an old-school West Indian lady.
