    Maserati GranTurismo Sport.

Maserati has previewed the first images and initial details for the new GranTurismo Sport that will be unveiled to the world at the Geneva Motor Show on March 6th and replaces the company's best selling GranTurismo S. It would be better described as a facelift but the name change enables the marketing team to present it as a new vehicle.

Its personality is dominated by a 4.7-liter V8 engine that produces 460hp ( 343 kW / 466 PS ) which should allow the sports car to accelerate from 0-100kph (0-62mph) in under 5 seconds. Full official specifications are yet to be released, but we should expect to see these to be revealed next month.

Additionally, the GranTurismo Sport receives a new front fascia featuring restyled front bumper and headlights with DRL Led technology. The rear also gets an update with new taillights and a darker tone whilst the interior gets a new steering wheel and aggressive upgrade.

    Re: Maserati GranTurismo Sport.

I like the Granturismo, a lot, but it's looking very dated. This is barely a facelift, let alone a new model. The most dated part, the back merely got tinted lights that take away from the classy character of the car.

    Re: Maserati GranTurismo Sport.

The look and sound of this car are actually the best things about it. In that particular price range, I would expect a better performance, 460 horses just don't cut it, sorry to say that. For this kind of money, the GTS should at least offer Porsche 991 Carrera S performance. Unfortunately, it doesn't.

It's basically an XK competitor, not a 911 one. Even though, in a straight line there wouldn't be much between the two I reckon.

    Re: Maserati GranTurismo Sport.

The new 991 Carrera S with PDK and Sport Chrono Plus does 0-100 kph in 3.9-4.0 seconds according to various reviews. How could the new Maserati GrandTurismo Sport come even close to it ? I highly doubt it.

I suspect a 0-100 kph time of 4.5 seconds and 0-200 kph time of 15 seconds for the Maserati. At best. Not really 991 territory, sorry to say that.

    Re: Maserati GranTurismo Sport.

A Maserati is not a sports car. It is a classical GT. Not more. Don´t mess this car with a Porsche 911. That´s absolutely wrong. A competitor is a V8 Vantage S, which does Hockenheim short track as fast as a 997 GTS and this with Bridgestone Potenza tyres, which are not the best one for track use.

Btw congrats to the Panamera Turbo S, RC.

    Thank you, KF. Smiley

True, I would prefer the Vantage S over the GranTurismo Sport but price-wise, both the Maserati and the Aston Martin are a little bit on the expensive side compared to the 991 Carrera S. I love the sound of the Vantage S though...amazing V8 inferno. Smiley

    Re: Maserati GranTurismo Sport.

Do you know, that AM reduces their prices for V8 Vantage and V8 Vantage S in Europe and on the other side the Navigation is now standard plus cruise control and bluetooth. A new 991 S with same options will be 5000 € cheaper in max. I know, performance is very important for you (but V8S is as fast as your GTS on the track), so i will have no chance to convince you to buy an AM V8S RoadsterSmiley

Smiley The GTS has to go when the Panamera Turbo S arrives...no more car without four full sized seats. Smiley

At least not until the kids are 18 or older... Smiley

    Re: Maserati GranTurismo Sport.

I remember a E55 AMG? Was it not the same? No more sportscar, because of the kids and then bamm, bamm, bamm 997 S, TT, Boxster S and at least 997 GTS? So do you pre-order a 991 TT for next yearSmiley

BTW. I heard something more about the new Quattroporte. Premiere in Detroit, introduction January, 2013, max. speed 320 km/h, Bi-Turbo V8 GDi with 530 hp...

    I learned my lesson(s)... Smiley

911 was a fun car...can't afford one anymore. The Carrera GTS Cab was actually for my wife(of course I was thinking of driving it myself too from time to time), to replace her M3 Cab but she doesn't like the car too much. I may go for a 991 Turbo or GT3 RS sometimes in the future but to be honest, I doubt that I can afford another garage queen.

So I think I found the best solution, C63 AMG Coupe as a daily driver and the Panamera Turbo S for weekend and holiday fun with the family. The X5M lease runs out next year and the Panamera will also replace the X5 as a family transport.
