    yes, the german text is exactly what you get if you buy the GT-R in Germany.

     Thanks for posting this text then. The warranty alone makes the car useless for anybody who wants to drive it on a track from time to time. Even participation in a driving school event will void the GTR warranty. That is incredible Smiley

    I agree with you: the Nissan marketing campaign is extremely misleading - they claim a track performance which customers are not able to exploit without voiding the warranty Smiley

     

    It gets worse if you think you can get away with "well, I take it secretly to the track and they won't know about so its no big deal"...well,  the GT-R has a GPS tied to its CPU with the coordinates of all the tracks around the world that tells the GT-R when it inside a track in order to automatically disconect the speed limiter, and when outside a track it will limit the speed to 180km/ in Japan and 250km/h RoW. Therefore it will be very easy to know if the GT-R has been taken inside a track when conected to the diagnosis machine at the delaership Smiley

    I didn't know this "feature" was in use outside Japan.

    A car tracking all my moves is certainly not the car for me.

    But who is to say that it doesn't log tracks outside Japan for warranty purposes, its as easy as adding more known coordinates to its database.

    We'll, I'll have to say that I'm intriqued enough to consider trading my modified 03 GT2 for one. I have the same concerns that everyone's brought up, particularly warrantee issues if tracked, long term reliability etc. but if it can come close to any of the times reported it's got a lot going for it. My short drive in one has only enhanced my interest as it drives much better than I expected and felt lighter and more nimble than meets the eye. I was not a fan of it's looks but It's growing on me. Don't expect it to be in the same class a Porsche in terms of track viability but I like the premise that it can put down power much better than the many of the standard bearers in the sports car world and in a usable package (4seats usable trunk etc.)-yes, I wish they could do it in a lighter package. After 10 consecutive years of various 911's, I'm ready for a hiatus. My sense is that I'll come back for a GT3/RS soon but life is too short to forgo interesting experiences when available. I helps that I can buy a new GT-R at invoice. Blasphemy?

    After watching the last Best Motoring volume I would say that the main factor in that amazing lap time is Suzuki's driving. In this video, T. Kinoshita, a Japanese touring car champion who has competed several times at the 24h of Nurburgring (this year in the Lexus LF-A, for instance) does some fast laps in a LHD Spec-V whose transmission overheats and then tries again in a RHD Spec-V achieving a fastest laptime of 7:34.46 suffering some overheat problems again at the end of this lap. Anyway, aside from those problems, you can see that Suzuki really extracts everything that is possible from that machine, making other drivers look a liitle bit sloppy behind the wheel of the GT-R.
