The Chevy small block V8 used in the Z is as bullet proof as any engine around, if not more so!
I believe BOTH the Chevy small-block/LS7/V8 engine used on the ZO6 and the Porsche GT1-based/3.6L boxer-6 engine on the 911Turbo are excellent powerplants, both under-tuned for marketing purposes, although the 911Turbo alone has more tunable potential as it is already turbocharged. BUT I am keenly interested in the SS (supercharged) version of the 'Vette as the "Blue Devil," which, if JimFlat6 is correct, will also incorporate into the engine, amongst other items, Variocam timing-BTW integrated already into the 911Turbo on the 996TT. However, I will never buy an SS without driving one first, which, if rumours are correct, could be difficult....
Of course, I can still keep my 996TT, tune it up further to 750 ponies, while I await the 997TTS, and my Noble M400 is due from Indianapolis by truck next Wednesday-as soon as my guy doing the install is done with his work on the Indy 500. Next all I need is to find my way through the archaic maze known as the New York State DMV to register and title the baby.
