    Re: [2022] Formula 1

Got a few more hours to digest.

This weekend, Red Bull cars aren't the strongest, Verstapppen doesn't have his usual cruise to victory ride. All year long we thought he had matured after winning the WDC, but with adversity this weekend he had actually regressed back to his old self. Or he never changed and was more mellow only because he has an all conquering car all year.

Either way, during Sprint and in the GP, his usual bullying tactics had back fired and he came off worse both times, earning a 5 second penalty even. That just adds more fuel to the fire already going full bore inside of him. The radio message, which isn't real time in the TV broadcast, basically pushed him over the edge, hence his refusal to give the place back to Perez.

Even the great Michael Schumacher, one of the most selfish driver there is, paid back Barrichello by giving him the top step and the trophy in the 2002 Austrian GP, annoying FIA, and then fully returns the favour by lifting at the 2002 GP to let Barrichello take the win, after he had clinched the WDC title.

Can anyone see Verstappen doing that to Perez? Not even the most diehard Max fans would say he will do such a thing.

6th place, 7th place, means absolutely nothing to Verstappen, but that 1 point difference could very well decide if Perez can secure 2nd place in the WDC ranking.

But then again, not the first time a Red Bull driver disobey team orders. Multi-21 comes to mind. Maybe it's a Red Bull culture thing.

In hindsight, this is a good thing Porsche and Red Bull didn't go through with the deal. Porsche Motorsport is all about sportsmanship and racing with dignity, and the Red Bull team and their primary driver certainly do not possess those qualities and not worthy of the Porsche branding.

It's the little things like these that define who one is, what their character is.

A shockingly bad weekend for red bull

Congrats to George. He so deserves it. His aggression always impresses me. And his crying at the end. The emotion is strong in this one

Hope Hamilton manages to win the next race.

    Re: [2022] Formula 1

    A great race.

Awesome to see Mercedes competitive and bodes well for 2023. Respect to LH for genuinely celebrating GR's maiden victory and acknowledging the team's effort towards the their late season resurgence.

DR made an error. Usually that contact would result in both cars continuing and a 5s penalty. His luck this year is on a par with his performance. For that contact to result in 2 x DNF is unfortunate..

Agree with Nick, Ocon is handful and Gasly v Ocon will be an ongoing storyline in 2023.

At times this year Max's comments and behaviour had suggested that he was maturing, was less selfish and had recognised that a he was part of team.

    Forget that.

    Re: [2022] Formula 1

Max is really damaging Red bull  team's image, they can't let a thing like that fly, specially after the radio conversation was made public, if I were Horner I would release a statement saying that this behavior is not ok for Red Bull team and have Max sit out the last race of the championship as a punishment. It's also for Max's own good, he is his worst enemy, they need to teach him to control himself, Schumacher,.Alonso, Hamilton, Vettel... they were all like this, but Max is one level above.

Alpine also needs to control Ocon, just like Perez helped Max achieve his championships, it was thanks to Alonso that Ocon got his only GP victory and Alonso fought Hamilton off like a honey badger to protect Ocon, only to pay him back once again not following team orders, not that Alonso cares, he left that team already and only has one more race, Ocon is young and like I said most competitive F1 drivers are like that, but the teams need to control these young drivers and teach them consequences, this would not happen on other team sports.

Otoh, look at Russell, the exact opposite of these guys, kudos to him on his win.

    Re: [2022] Formula 1

    well said Carlos

    Re: [2022] Formula 1

Max:  “I went around the outside at Turn 1 and I just felt it as soon as I was going next to him, he had no intention to leave me space,” said the Red Bull driver. “I said ‘OK if you don’t leave me space then we’re just going to collide’.

yes I can't get myself to like this guy.

That's literally the exact same move he did yesterday by Ocon to him.

I think even the most diehard Max fans would run out of words trying to defend Max's behaviour yesterday, on track or on the radio.

Honestly, he will fit right in with the NASCAR crowd however, his driving style of bowling balling into others is exactly how those drivers drive. Maybe that's the reason why all these new Netflix fans are cheering for Max.

    Re: [2022] Formula 1

So it would seems Max's grunge against Perez was from Monaco qualifying, that he thinks Perez crashed on purpose to prevent him from setting a pole time.

Kind of childish, don't believe Perez's race engineer kept Perez updated with Max's split times while Perez was running at that time.

One only heard about the two drivers in a team feuding because they are close in skills, Prost/Senna, Alonso/Hamilton, Hamilton/Rosberg etc. But Verstappen/Perez? Really? They aren't even in the same level.

Imagine we are in an alternate universe, where next week is 2021 Abu Dhabi, and Horner gave instructions for Perez to hold up Hamilton in order for Max to catch and pass.

I can see Perez be like look there is Hamilton behind me, oops he is gone now. Horner like wtf and Perez be like payback is a bitch.

    Re: [2022] Formula 1

I didn't watch the race, and had to Google the results. I knew right away about the Max / Checo thing though, because that's all everyone is talking about, even on here. So Russell gets his win, and nobody cares. LOL. Poor guy.

I'm I the only one who was hoping Ocon would of smashed his helmet on Max's face after the second push?

    Re: [2022] Formula 1

    Binotto out, Vasseur in.

    Re: [2022] Formula 1

Somehow I don't think it's fair to pin it all on Binotto.

There was a limited pool of talents that he got to work with.

He isn't the one planning the strategies and run the simulations. I mean he does supervise everyone but he isn't a one man band.

Their simulations really need overhauling. Their race strategists planned the plan As to plan Zs from their simulations, and if they got those wrong, everything goes wrong.

Perhaps proaching some staff from Red Bull would be a start. RB got the best anyways.

I really want to see a 3 way fight, with 5 drivers next year. Yes 5, Verstappen won't let Perez have the spotlight.

It's a wash -lewee drove him off the track and F1 covered his ass yet again.

as for max refusing to move over, very tacky and irretrievably childish

    Re: [2022] Formula 1

More like Max knew he is gonna crash into Lewis yet he doesn't care as he knew Lewis is going for his first win of the season and he sewed up his WDC.

It's better to ruin Lewis' race than his own race.

That's the mentality of Max. Lewis live in Max's mind rent free for the longest time and still is.

Hulk is in and Mick is out at Haas,

Is Hulk gonna out perform Mck in the same car? Debatable.

Where is Mick gonna end up at?

What would Haas do in 2024 if Hulk doesn't work out? Likely they would have burnt the bridge with Mick for sure. Are they gonna try and sign Ricciardo? Or eve if Ricciardo wanted to sign with them?

Riccardo will be missed. Hope he can get his head back in gear.

can’t wait for next years competition. The World Cup will have to fill the void for awhile.

They expect us to believe it was never discussed it before?  Even through it came up just the day before in the sprint race with Checo asking for the swap there too?

    Re: [2022] Formula 1

Red Bull Racing is a very successful team, but that doesn't mean it is run with ethics. Or proper morals. It starts from the very top with Horner, who love to tread in the grey area.

Had the Porsche deal went through, and Porsche wanting controlling interest, they could very well clean house and expel those that's are fit for the Porsche image. Think the very first one that could go would be Horner. One reason why he was so against the deal.
