this just hapened to me this weekend: I told the wife that I had ordered the 997S and told her it should be here in a week or 2 but she didn't ask how much it costs and I didn't tell her; the next day I come home and after some small talk she brings out a copy of the computer printout I picked up a few days prior from my dealer with my VIN# and prices which I had left layig around in the Living Room. She proceeds to talk to me in a very loving voice how I deserve my new car because I work so hard, blah blah, but why does it have to cost over $90k? It was a funny scene. Thank God it lasted about 2 minutes than we switched to other more mundane subjects about the house. I Love my wife!
My phylosophy is to never lie to anyone, but ommissions are ok.

I don't get the analogy. Bicycles aren't suppose to make noise.
A Porsche's engine and exhaust sound is part of the experience. Part of the fun. Exhaust sound for any sports car that is.
The PSE just makes that experience more lively. Louder, more enjoyable.
More like hooking up better speakers for your stereo then attaching a card onto a bicycle.
You really have to hear it in person and live with the difference driving the car for a while to appreciate it. It's hard to describe the sound modification.

I have to admit that the PSE is pretty loud. And I'm sitting inside the coupe. I can't imagine what it would be like behind me. I sometimes feel a little embarassed.

i'll still go take a pic of my MOD if you want, but carlos has already posted a pic with his, like he said earlier, it's pretty self explanitory
it's easy, just pull off the single hose(NOT the one which forks out into 2 pipes) and just tape the plastic pipe the hose went over closed as well as the hose itself, then just tape or tie the hose so it won't move around.

Stratdale: You are probably right. As it is, I already feel a bit conspicuous in my car (even in the Bay Area), I can't imagine drawing anymore attention to myself (even if this isn't the point of PSE)!
As this is only my first P, I'm sure I will eventually get over my modesty!

Ahhh, come on man. Who cares what other people think of how loud your car is. It's not like you're running open headers. Also, I wouldn't feel conspicuous at all. It's a Porsche 997. It's not like you're rolling in a Viper , Aston Martin, Yellow Ferrari or Orange Lambo. But since this is your first P-Car I can understand exactly where you're comin from.
If it's really an issue for you feeling like you're showing off one of the great things about the PSE is the ability to turn it off completely. Enjoy it out of the city and then turn it off if you think you're attracting too much attention.

Oh boy Miguel! I'm typing and I can't get this friggin smile off my face!

BTW... I was side by side with a cop and he just smiled like saying "good for you son now get back to 65 mph!" STRADALE makes a good point... WHO CARES! This thing is just flat out FUN!
