TPMS is now available for MY 2006 997 in US

Don't know if this has been posted but FYI: My dealer (Michael Porsche in Fresno) was able to add this to my July allocation MY 2006 997. So if you act soon, it's not too late to add. Cost is unknown yet but it's around 1000?
BTW, this is what happened when you read this forum too much. Options keep being added as you wait for your car to be built.

Re: TPMS is now available for MY 2006 997 in US

Cannga: my dealer in Canada has been unable to find out anything about TPMS. Can you find out the Porsche option code ? Thanks.

Don't let him charge you for it!!!!! Congress passed legislation making TPMS mandatory starting with MY2006, so it is actually standard eqipment mandated by the federal government.

Which, naturally will cause MSRP prices to go up for all new cars in MY2006 to cover it. Thanks Congress!!!

Really? That seems incredible, are you sure? Wow, that was fast.

Yes and no. Check out this link: what does "phased in" mean in terms of 2006 models landing on dealer lots ???

    Tire Pressure Monitoring System
    Option 482

Re: TPMS is now available for MY 2006 997 in US

It's option 482 as mentioned above. It's listed as an option, so I believe we have to pay for now. If it's mandatory, I think it's fairly obvious Porsche would raise MSRP, especially for something as expensive as this (1.5% of the cost of the car). At any rate, I can't wait because my car is July built, and this sounds like an important option not to miss.

Re: TPMS is now available for MY 2006 997 in US

It is interesting to note that the above link says: "The manufacturers' average cost per vehicle is estimated to be between $48.44 and $69.89, depending on the technology used.", yet Porsche charges around $600!!!

Who cares? Precious gems and diamonds are worse; look at real estate prices too. You wanna play you gotta pay. Porsches are worth what people will pay for them.

Re: TPMS is now available for MY 2006 997 in US

it says all new vehicles weighing less than 10,000 lbs must be equipped by 2008. I happily added the oprion for my 2006
