Heh . That would be telling! Plausible deniability.

Re: Lets talk more about this Wide Body C4S spotted in Georgia

    Dr.Phil,
Great job, man ... I like this kind of exercice.
and I don't see why you exercice is not valid.

I know I'll be accused again of "knowing it all" and it will again deliver arguments for those people who try to lure people to other forums by telling them that RC is "evil" (last time they accused me of working for PAG) or that they should join a "real" american forum because they understand the needs for US owners (I'm not kidding, it happened!).

Let me put it this way: I know 100% for sure that the car in Georgia wasn't a C4S or so called widebody. Call me arrogant, call me whatever you want but this car had the 997 body. Period. And now I'm ready for any kind of flame and for another 50 PM to people who criticize me to go to other forums where their "needs" are met.

    Hi RC,
I don't wanna start the debate, but personaly I don't think you are arrogant. Your help and point of view is always appreciated by the majority. For the others, they can leave for "better" or "more appropriate" forums.
I mentionned that some people are dreaming for real, I mean, that they see or hear all what they dream. Interesting, but a bit strange for me.

Re: Lets talk more about this Wide Body C4S spotted in Georgia

    Okay,

    so I trust RC's information.

But I have no reason not to trust JP66 as well - so what are German technicians doing in the US and working on a 997 in the shop - Porsches' technicians on holiday?

OK, RC said the car is a C4 not a C4S and not a wide-body. So the C4 will had a standard 997 body. (And we can all agree it is a C4 because of the tailpipes) Now the big question is, when will it be available?

I remember seeing the Cayennes on the streets of Venice California before they were announced. Three black ones heavily camouflaged but the sound of the engine gave them away.

Re: Lets talk more about this Wide Body C4S spotted in Georg

In my opinion, the reason why RC knows with 100% certainty that the Georgia 997 is no widebody is because he knows that the upcoming C4 and C4S are not going to be widebodies and the only widebody in the 997 lineup will be the Turbo and since that 997 in Georgia is no Turbo it cannot be a widebody.

And that would explain why we haven't seen any C4S spy shots even though it's so close to its release date. (according to RC's schedule)

I wish I did. I'm afraid I just have some good friends...and unfortunately also some new foes there.
Many enemies...much honour or something like that.

Re: Lets talk more about this Wide Body C4S spotted in Georgia

How do we know the "georgia" 997 wasn't a Turbo? Could it be the beginnings of the Turbo, hidden in a 997 bodystyle?
If the car was outside when I went to see it, I would have taken measurements to help decide if it was a "widebody", but it is now gone. I still can't say for sure if it was a "widebody" without measuring, but compared to the other 997's and my C4S, it appeared wider.
A year from now none of this will matter anyway....

    JP66 you worte this:

" I wasn't able to take pics, but the car was DEFINATELY wider. Even a tad wider than my C4S. I couldn't really stay back there to long due to the German mechanics, trying to hide the car by standing around it and constantly staring at me. If I get another chace to take pics another day I will."

What made ýou change your mind?

Re: Lets talk more about this Wide Body C4S spotted in Georgia

Anybody ask the dealer if there was anything special about this car?

No room for the intercooler. The Turbo, if it's anything like the 993 and 996, will need a portion of the tail to be fixed - it needs the space.

Re: Lets talk more about this Wide Body C4S spotted in Georgia

i just hope the 'fix' the lights on the 997 Turbo

I haven't changed my mind....but without actually measuring it, it could be the same as the 997S, but, people who have seen it in person, including myself, the guy who originally posted the pic, and the salespeople (who I know), and others, all seem to think it is wider.

    Which line below is longer?

    --------------------- ---------------------

    They look similar, but???
    It's difficult to say

Re: Lets talk more about this Wide Body C4S spotted in Georgia

It really depends on what the dealer said and if he knew details about this car: I just have been informed, like somebody stated before, that it is very likely that the normally aspirated non-turbo charged "widebody" will be called 997 Carrera 4 and not Carrera 4S.
IF this car in the picture is confirmed to be a Carrera 4, it is very likely indeed that it is a widebody. But some "elements" of the widebody are missing, maybe because this is still a test mule.
So yes, there is a Carrera 4 mule in the States but no Carrera 4S test mule. So maybe this is why all this stuff got confusing. It still doesn't look like a widebody to me (I saw a preliminary picture of the "real" thing) but who knows, test mules can look different and this car in the pictures was really dirty too.

Now things are even more confusing, right?

    Hi JP66,

I looked under the rear of this car when I was at Barrier. There were no turbos, and the front was not different from a regular 997.

Regarding Georgia plates: most of the US test car pictures I've seen in books have Georgia plates. The reason I believe is that PCNA (Porsche Cars North America) is now headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia.

Re: Lets talk more about this Wide Body C4S spotted in Georg

GUYS THE PICS THAT THE DOC ANALYZED SEEM THAT ITS THE SAME CAR

its is obvious at the same time that the pic showing the mentioned "widebody" has been shot more close to the car, in that philoshophy any object that's taken photographed closely can look really huge

That's it. This is like an episode of the X-Files. Back to the single malt Scotch for me.
