Re: OFFICIAL: The new Porsche 992 – a design icon and high-tech sports car
In reply to Carlos from Spain on the track times vs the 991: This is something that I wondered about and having driven the 992 vs 991.1 and 2 - I think I now understand why a 992 C2S and a 991.2 GTS are perhaps similar on track times. I did read somewhere that they could have made the 992 even quicker at the Nordschleife vs the 991 but that it would have been at the expense of other things such as drivability, wet performance and similar. Frankly I‘m not sure you can need or want more than the 992 S has on a normal road or occasional track use. I have also read that in marginal conditions on as a slippery road for normal 911 drivers the 992 is significantly superior. So I suppose it will be horses for courses. As a daily driver I think the 992 is a step forward. And as a weekend toy I suppose the next GT‘s will be even better and faster. And the turbo? On an autobahn I can see why you might want one. But I wonder whether its going to be worth the money on normal roads, such is the performance now on the 992 cars. The next turbo will of course be even faster but the interior and the quality will be similar to a normal Carrera....so....
