Anyone know if a dealer has carried out a MF steering wheel retrofit? Porsche east London said it could not be done. I have a cocoa interior if that makes any difference.
They may be a little apprehensive to do it , but it can be done if your car is equipped with a PCM 2.1 unit. The parts required to do the retro fit are a pair of switch covers (with multi function buttons), a new mini wiring loom for the airbag and a control module. Providing your vehicle has a triangular airbag steering wheel, all the parts will fit straight on. The alternative is to buy a complete new wheel with the hardware already installed. The multi function option cannot be fitted to the sport wheel as the switch covers are a different shape. Multi function switch covers are also available for tip cars so long as the wheel is the triangular airbag type. The re coding of the PCM and CAN system takes about half an hour after which it all works as per OEM supply. My car has had the MF buttons retro fitted by myself and coded by Porsche silverstone. The buttons will also fit techart steering wheels (I've got one of these too)
