    Auto-Bild from 8.7.05:Cayman RS

Just one picture form the Nürburgring of a dark blue cayman with PCCB. Auto-Bild says that this car is a prototype of the Cayman RS with 3.4L/340PS Engine lightweight-Version coming early 2007 in small numbers. They say it looks extremly fast on the track...

The license plate is: LB-GG 497, the cayman from the south-africa test had LB-GG 498

    Re: Auto-Bild from 8.7.05:Cayman RS

What really sucks is that even if this is true, the US will probably not get it anyway.

Well, we need to keep some of the goodies to ourselves

    Re: Auto-Bild from 8.7.05:Cayman RS

RC said in another post that he saw a 3.6 liter engine for the 987 at the factory when he picked up his wife's Boxster. Whatever plans Porsche may have for the Cayman it's unrealistic to believe that any improvements, developments, etc, will be made available until the initial demand for the current offering, Cayman S, has been fully played out. There is no business sense for Porsche in any other strategy. Whether or not such models are imported to the US will depend upon perceived demand and certification/importation costs. Although reading a board such as this may suggest otherwise, the market for truly high performance, stripped down, and expensive sports cars is probably very small in the US.

Very true. I believe we will see a base Cayman next....but anything after that is a true long-shot.

Well, I hate not to have a selection of all the factory offerings, but I guess it's a fair trade when you consider the price you have to pay over there in Denmark

Yeah, at appr. 70,000 $ in the US it will cost appr. 210.000 USD in Denmark.
    Yikes!

Ouch- that would buy a new GT2 and a used 993 over here...

    Now that's just ridiculous.

    Re: Auto-Bild from 8.7.05:Cayman RS

    Ridiculous. Indeed.
Main reason why there are only a handful of new Porsches in Denmark.
    Our tax system totally sucks.
Now EU wants to get rid of the system but the taxes will just be replaced by other taxes, like "tirevalve rubber replacement tax", "lowering of convertiible roof tax", "looking too good for your neighbour tax" and such.

What can I say....the danish attitude totally sucks in that respect.
But Copenhagen is the best place in the World to be in the summer! WhooHoo! Guess we get a little for our money that way. Dóh!

    Re: Auto-Bild from 8.7.05:Cayman RS

Dr Phil, I feel your pain. Here in Australia the price of cars are almost as bad as Denmark. However I would argue that Melbourne and Sydney are even better place to be in Summer.

    Re: Auto-Bild from 8.7.05:Cayman RS

Then the best way is take youre holiday in melbourne and denmark and life and buy cars somewhere else.

Very good point. Maybe I should look into moving ot the US where for the price of a Cayman I will be paying here I could buy a 911 turbo over there!

Well, my personal "credo" is actually: working and earning money in Germany, living and spending money in the US (especially at the current Euro/USD exchange rate).

Unfortunately Australia is too far from Europe or US. What ppl here do is make our money here and spend it in Bali, KL, Singapore etc. We love going to South East Asia is it is our neighbour.
