WAY:Gnil:Test drive booked also for me. This Saturday
Funny how we all want the car but try to dump it on our wives, how come ?
Wife or girlfriend need not apply in my case. Unless something else comes along that is even better, this will be my new city daily driver.
I use my 964 as my city daily ... will not exchange that for the Yaris !
Can you share more about your test drive ?
964 Carrera 4 -- 997.2 C2S , -20mm -- 991.2 GT3 RS
Well, since neither my son nor my daughter seem to be interested in the Yaris GR and I do not have the garage room for another toy, I just got myself this one to replace the GLC 63 S next year :
Of course not exactly this one above but it looks the same (color, etc.).
Not exactly a track toy but a toy...and daily driver(!).
Brand-new, German(!) version offered officially by Jeep Germany incl. 4 years warranty (not many were available, most sold Trackhawk were grey imports from he US), car was registered in September 2020 because there was a deadline for this emissions class but it has only 10 km, never has been used.
Official MSRP was 131k EUR (incl. tax), got it for 1k EUR (incl. tax) per month for 48 months, no down payment. New winter wheels set (worth over 4k EUR with Pirelli Scorpion Winter) on top for free.
One of the last dinosaurs... Had actually planned to get a G63 or even an Urus but for this kind of money, nobody can beat the Trackhawk. Kids love the car (they cried when I returned the SRT to the dealer) and wife loves the color, so everything is good.
I think I can even beat the Yaris GR time over one round on the Nordschleife...
I guess I moved completely to the dark side (Performante and Trackhawk), no EV for me for the next couple of years.
Car will be registered next month, stay tuned.
My wife is getting a Porsche 992 Turbo S Convertible or a 992 GT3 Touring Convertible next year (she finally narrowed it down to these two...I hope), so no need for getting another sports car or whatever. We just switch (when she needs a SUV, I drive her car and vice versa).

Thank you, guys.
I will open a new thread once I get the car, no need to continue here in the Yaris GR thread.

DuckieRS:Am I the only one noticing all those regular ones in traffic lately? They... are... everywhere... (all of a sudden it seems)
Funny how the mind works!
I think they were there all the time but we never paid attention.

I think this is why I replied the way I replied.

Yesterday I did a 30 min test drive in the GR.
First impression when I saw it is that it looked better in real life then on photos. Less of a boy racer.
This one was in pearl white ( a paying option ) . It suited the car perfectly as it give the car some more '' body '' .
Sound inside was less bad as anticipated . That little 3 cylinder has some growl.
The engine pull hard and is very reactive . Only down side to me is the short band rev where it works properly. Basically from about 3700 rpm to about 6000 rpm.
Engine is enough for the car.
The chassis in unbelievable. Loads of fun. With the short wheelbase , the traction, the perfectly tuned suspensions, it makes it very nimble, fast, and glued to the road .
Basically you are sitting on an impressive sporty chassis, surrounded by some plastic, kind of ugly inside and some metal to make that hold together. Like one car put on top of another. A boxe that looks like a Yaris welded onto a race chassis that you don't know from where it is coming
Love it !!!!!! Pure fun for back roads . Could not try it very much but I can imagine the potential it has and only dream about what could be done on snow . A toy for big boys
My son sat at the back to try space. He is 192cm tall. His head touches the roof, but he said it it not uncomfortable. he would probably not hold longer then one hour . The driver sits high, the passenger even more
I want one My only problem is how to make it fit in my stable. I would need to replace one of our cars...... and that is a tough one.

Porker:Goddamn Eric, you're not making things easier.
I can help make it easier : The interior is bad , very bad, specially that horrible middle screen that seems to have been put there by a fridge ( the pedals, the steering wheel, the gear level and the shape of the seats on the other hand are great, but who cares about these details )
Clutch pedal is too soft...

I drove the car on Saturday together with a friend, it is really a fun device. We hooned it around a little and also tried some funny things.
The chassis is wonderful, the engine feels powerfull, especially the in gear accelration is great for such a little car. The clutch is probably the weak spot of the car but only time will tell. Our GR was on winter tires which was defiintely the limiting factor, there was some understeering through corners. I am 193cm, I had enough space but the seat could be slightly lower down. Does it look nice from the inside? I do not think so but it is a Toyota, did not expet anything else. CHF 40k is quite a price fur such a small thing but it is probably worth it, on the other hand, one could also buy a used BMW M2 for the same price (completely different car I know).
In the end, it is really a great car and I am still interested in one, especially for snowy mountain passes during the winter, but I did not feel the immediate need to buy one (I had that feeling with the GT 4). Furthermore, I have some other priorities right now.
