Joking aside, when my wife asked me to check with insurance if she can drive the Performante as well, I froze for a moment, didn't know what to say. I doubt however that she is going to drive it, she knows what the rims cost and she has a habit of kissing the boardwalk with them from time to time. 😱

996FourEss:RC I may have missed this but what about a 991.2 GTS in same colour combo? Or waiting for the 992. Sorry if a well trodden subject.
My wife wanted a convertible with four fully usable seats. We had a 991.2 GTS convertible for a year, so...
Also, my son didn't want to be driven to school in a Porsche, some classmates made fun of him. Since we bring him in the Evoque or E63S, no more comments. Wasn't the main reason though.
Last but not least, my wife pays 970 EUR (incl. VAT) per month for this car, it is worth 126k EUR. No initial payment, 20k km per year (3 years). A bargain. Reason? We also leased a E63S and all is part of a special business lease "pool" offer.
For comparison: My Porsche dealer just offered me a brand-new 991.2 GTS 4 Cab for 2000 EUR per month, 18 months, 10k km per year. No thanks.
Btw: My wife wanted the C43 AMG convertible but since I drive this car too from time to time...

Ok. Makes sense. Amazing how non competitive Porsche lease rates are ( or how subsidised MB rates are). Is the Porsche cab worth twice the monthly on a C63 cab. To be fair probably not. Again that all makes sense. Surprised in Germany that you get flack at school due to the car “die Eltern” drive though , that is frankly disappointing

A few weeks before delivery decided not to take it.
I am too far from Joliet track to really put the car to use and driving around in regular traffic with that humongous wing, looking like a wannabe racer just did not have any appeal to me.
With limited garage space ( my 2 sons are still living with us at least for the next 5-6 months and they have their cars too) I decided to get something I could enjoy more often, in every spare moment.
Looking for a deal on a V600LM now, a car that was always on my bucket list since it's introduction in 2000.
Wife is enjoying her Lusso though.
Picked up the C63 S AMG Convertible yesterday...short driving report will follow, incl. more pictures.
Only a short note regarding the exhaust sound (since the car has a particulate filter and fullfills the latest emissions laws, incl. Euro 6d temp/WLTP): It is a bit deeper than on the pre-facelift car and still sounds good and V8-like. Not as loud as my E63 S at idle but my E63 has no particulate filter. Exhaust sound during driving is also very nice, very noticeable but definetely also deeper. More in my short driving report.
Car is on winter wheels, summer wheels are black.

My wife's "company" car, it has to last 36 months. 
E63 S is my "company" car, same thing.
R8 is a different story but I had it for over two years now and loved it. There is a reason why I replace it with a Huracan Performante. Keep in mind that in Germany, I could have gotten myself the 720S or a nicely specced 488 GTB for the money the Performante costs me.

Not to be a downer, but you have made it a point on this blog that Germans particularly in your neighborhood find owning high end cars a crude display of wealth. It’s frowned upon even by customers. Given all the nice cars you acquired recently, have things changed?

Nothing has changed in this regard but we don't really care as much as before anymore. We just need to be careful with my son and school but everything else...well, we work hard, so we don't care. Could get worse though when the economic situation changes in Germany, I remember 2008 when some people openly verbally attacked my wife in the Cayenne (people were losing their jobs, fuel prices went up a lot...).
Problem is that we live in a small neighborhood but half of the people here are my wife's patients now, so... 😛😉
