Hybrid is flawed, just a temporary technology to make people feel good about themselves, not about the environement... Full electric or hydrogen is the way to go...
Porsche is only doing it for their image, especially in Germany, but they won't spend too much money on it.
There are massive amounts of money spend in research on batteries and solar power. Even if these yield some kind of progress, everybody will recharge their full electric car with free solar power in 10/15 years with batteries lasting the life of the car and rechargeable in under 30 mins... Who will care about oil prices then
I would also hope/expect that not too far from now, all city center bans fuel cars alltogether, or impose a prohibitive toll on non 100% clean cars.

Yes, the whole hybrid is nothing but a band wagon and there are better ways to be environmental friendly..............like choosing a weaker engine or a smaller car.
But hybrids do save a lot of fuel and make sense if you live in LA/SoCal, London or in places where congestion is intense. If you don't drive in heavily congested areas and mostly do high way driving and such then Diesel is the best choice.

It shows a power buldge on the front hood and the shape of the rear lights (with cut out notches that you wouldn't have been able to tell was there on the camo-ed mules. It doesn't show the rear door line though while it does show the front. It was just a little odd to me...

Not to mention the ravishing environmental damage caused by smelting nickel for the batteries.

Totally rediculous - in a different threat people screem that a Diesel goes into a R8 - and now we have Porsche Hybrids...I think THAT is much worse n pure marketing....
Why buying a +2.2 tons car in the first place to safe 1-2 liter of fuel or so afterwards ?...Does somebody know how much this thing weights ???
I also heard that getting rid of all those upcomming "used" hybrid batteries is a serious environmental issue.
I know a Lexus L600h driver who said it's all BS - it has the same fuelconsumption like it's predecessor he had (460 if I am not mistaken) - he just can play the great stereo much longer and the aircon runs when it's off...
