Roger Becker leaves Lotus
Recent weeks have seen a flurry of new appointments announced from Hethel as new CEO Dany Bahar stamps his mark on the company. However it has come as a surprise to many Lotus insiders to learn that Roger Becker, probably the longest serving Lotus employee, has taken retirement from the company after more than 43 years' service.
To many people Roger was 'Mr Lotus', having worked his way up from the shop floor to the position of Vehicle Engineering Director of Group Lotus. Over the years his name has been synonymous with Lotus legendary reputation for fine handling, a tradition that will be carried on as many young engineers have learnt from Roger, not the least his son Matthew, who also works for Lotus. Father and son Becker played a huge part in the development of the Evora, Roger justifiably proud of the way in which he oversaw the project from drawing board to production in the space of just 14 months.
We are naturally saddened that another link with Lotus' illustrious past has moved on, but we wish Roger well in what we hope will be a long and happy retirement.
A full feature on Roger's time with Lotus will follow early next week.
