Finally, I got my car yesterday, but......
It doesn't shift into reverse. It obviously shifted into reverse at the factory, the port in Bremen, the port in Brunswick, and it backed off the truck, and out of the prep bay, but I get in it and drive it back to my office, and.... no reverse. So I take it back, they put it on the lift, start talking about loaners and airing in a new transmission, I'm building toward an aneurysm (this car has taken forever, sat in Bremen for 3.5 weeks to load, sat in Brunswick for 1.5 weeks to load), I tell 'em, "put the damn thing together, order the parts, I'm taking it home, I'll push it backwards if I've got to". I figure that I may as well have time to properly detail it, program all my features, adjustments, etc... Anyhow, today they've been huddling on the phone with higher-up service muckity-mucks in Atlanta, and they're pulling up the console to check if a cable adjustment slipped out of adjustment. Which sounds FAR more likely than any internal tranny gremlin. With luck on my side (I'm due, I'm tellin ya), I'll actually be able to back up my new $91K car with reverse, instead of opening the door and pushing with my foot! LOL Which is exactly how I exited my garage this morning. It's a good thing I have a sense of humor. I'll post pics when I've got time, the black on Terracotta is awesome, and my "E36 Aluminum Package Switch Panel" option that cost friggin $1550 bucks turned out to be COMPLETELY different than I had anticipated, but nonetheless I'm happy I got it. I ordered it totally blind, as Porsche really didn't have a good photo of it available, and the description of the package was hard to visualize. Anyhow, the FUNNY thing is that it only added ONE piece of aluminum-look stuff! My gauge-surround is aluminum-look, instead of black. It's sharp. The rest of the package doesn't have a damn thing to do with aluminum-look. My a/c vents are all Terracotta, where normally they would be black. So the vents match the interior. Furthermore, my defroster trim panels and the center dash speaker, all up at the base of the windshield spanning the entire front edge of the dash, is all upholstered in stitched leather!! I know, it's a foo-foo deal, but it's unique and I doubt I'll see it on many other cars. I'll include pics of that as well, time permitting. It's a busy day...
