Sorry to hear about the alpina. What happened ? Need a new engine? Is it the Diesel or the petrol one ?
The petrol one, loss of power and always going into limp mode. Then developed a ticking noise, replaced all possible pumps and injectors to no avail. They're now changing the timing chain and tensioner as a last resort.
The diesel one is running faultlessly for 170k km now already.

As I've always regretted selling the 500E, I was sure one had to come back to me at some point. One to keep in that case, so preferably in the best spec/condition possible.
I wasn't actively looking lately as it wasn't really the time to buy for me, and I wouldn't know where to store it either. Until a friend showed me a link of a gorgeous one-owner green 500E. Up for auction. Dreamspec, a '91 example, originally delivered to Nice, so with the yellow headlights (French cars had yellow headlights until '93), in my favorite hue, green. How could I resist... I put out a lowball bid, and kind of forgot about it, but when the end of the auction neared, I was still the highest bidder. 2 mins before the end, finally overbid, but slightly. So I put one final bid in, and it was mine. 
As it wasn't really the right time to buy a car again, I phoned a friend who I knew was thinking of a nice 500E as well, so we decided to make it a project together. That solved my storage issue at once as well, everyone happy!
The car was located in Gstaad so we made a weekend out of it to go and collect the car. Collection day didn't disappoint, some photos:

When we got the car back home, we had it checked by a local specialist and the verdict was good, but not brilliant. Structure and body all perfect, as you'd expect for a car having lived in the south of Europe (no salt). However the engine had some misfires, gearbox a bit slow, engine mounts tired, ...So the decision was taken to essentially throw the kitchen sink at it, and have it restored to factory fresh condition. This work is taking place now, I have shitload of photos of the work being carried out if some are interested. Looking forward to the result when all is done.
