Deviating Seat Inserts....

I've still been pursuing the red/black interior. Seems that the problems will occur with the door panels and the rear panels - can't get it to jive right.

What about an all black interior with deviating front and rear seat inserts in carrera red leather? Will it look ok without adding other red leather bits?

I don't like the deviating seat inserts but you may want to get option 25241 - Front and Rear Seats in Deviating Color (Carrera Red), which is the entire seat. I would also add red seat belts, red stitching on everything but the seats and floor mats with red trim. I haven't seen any Porsches done this way but I have seen a 430 Spider (red seats only) and it looks real nice.

I second ESK on the seats. However, I would stay away from red belts, because Guards Red is noticeably different from Carrera Red. Similarly, deviating stitching and carpet piping should be Carrera Red, not Guards Red.

I'd go for Natural Dark Grey instead of black leather, but spec black carpets instead of the standard dark grey.

Pair that interior with GT silver, White, Basalt, Meteor or Slate and you have a winner.

I'd be REAL careful with all the red stuff....Guards Red stitching does NOT match Carrera Red leather. Unless they can guarantee Carrera Red stitching, I'd leave that AND seatbelts alone.

Seats would be fine, maybe a bi-color dash even, rest in black.

I think I saw a Mini, and a Lotus Elise with all kinds of "inserts;" on the dash on the seats, on the door panels. I didn't like it. I'm not sure but it seems like a youth-oriented marketing cutesey fad; I don't really know... . Maybe that because the 997 is not a kid's car when you go to sell or trade the car you'll turn off alot of buyers. I could be waaaay off here... .

At any rate, because I see the 997 interior as soooo damn busy anyway, I wouldn't add more, just because it's offered as a "personalizing" (yeah..., riiiight) option.

Agree with MMD, in bright colours it looks ricey.

Subtle Grey/blacks work better.
