    My engine Blow

    SmileySmileySmileySmiley, Here what happened. I'll try to explain that the best way i can.

    I was last week in Imola for my before last race, in the morning after the briefing i find out that i was leading  the championship for 22 points on the second.

    What a joy for me to get this news. So i made my calculation and said: if i finish second in the sprint race and in the Endurance, i'll still be in first position.

    in the qualyfying, i took place in the 5 lane start, made a really nice start and the race started. (Sprint Race). After 4 laps come into tamburelo, from the 5th gear went into the 4 th and then tried to putt in  the third gear, bad luck for me the third didn't went in and my engine took the speed untill 9'000. No good.

    The engine stopped directly. I let you imagine what happen to my engine. Couldn't restart the car so i let the car go untill the accident of Senna place. Went out of the car and wait till the end of the race. Two laps after mine, in Tamburelo again, i heard Cratch, boum. I run in front  and i saw a friend with his GT3 RS crash into the wall.

    Conclusion of the wk-end my piston or valve are dead, my track road are dead and i still not have the diagnostic for the rest of the engine and over all , lost the chance to become First for the championship.

    i still have one race left and not sure i'll be able to catch for the points missing unless the one who took the pole in the championship, crash in Magny-Cour. Picture of the RS will follow.

      Not good.  Sorry to hear this Cram.  An over rev is a painful thing to experience.  I hope you get it sorted very soon and as Easy states, you're back in contention.

    Thanks Rossi, ResB and Easy. It's hard to swollow. I don't mind losing when it's equal to equal but when you have the engine that let you down and you lose it's harder to accept. But this is part of the race

    Sigh.....Smiley Though 9,000 rpm shouldn't neccessarily kill the engine Smiley AFAIK this is a "stage1" overrev for the GT3 according to Porsche's own warranty rules. Critical zone is above 9,600 rpm (=stage 4).

    Anyway it must feel terrible to lead the championship (Swiss Sports Cup I guess) and then ending up as a spectator Smiley

    And I was hoping to meet you next week in the Eifel.....

    Yes i did get a stage 4 after the mechaniker question the car by informatik. I still feel bad about it. But well and yes i want be in the Eifel next week . My bro has to go alone

     thanks for the tip and you certainly right but just for the moment cars and giving out monney for it is kind of  me. so i'll cool down and give to the time to do what has to be done.

    but i'm sure some will say : What i get passed by a Mini Cooper S

     Sad moment Cram, I hope you can get it fixed. Congratulations for the succes you had up to that point though. We'll be rooting for u when you get back on the track.

    Sorry to hear the news, Cram. I guess it´s all part of the experience. If it weren´t for the rules in Sports Cup, this could be the time to get a sequential gearbox.

    To quote an Australian friend of mine: "Ahhhh  man, that sucks balls! Big hairy ones!"

    Was that with the yellow beast, or are you driving the races with a dedicated race car? I hope you can get it fixed without having to spend big $$ on it. Also, it must be pretty sh*t that this happens right at the end of the championship, where the chances that you'll be able to fight your way back to the top are slim... All the best mate, hope that you'll be able to race in front again next race!

    Sorry for your misfortune, Cram (but at least the result is not as bad as your friend with the RS).  I am not sure I understood your explanation completely, but it sounds like the overrev to 9k was not caused by selecting a gear too low for your speed (the typical cause of a problematic overrev in these cars), but rather because you applied the throttle with no gear selected at all.  Is that right?  If so, the rev limiter should have prevented damage.

    Seeing your new comments that you hit Stage 4 overrev (that must be way over 10k), how do you explain this?  Do you think you hit first (or another low) gear by mistake or just revving in neutral?

    Grant you almost correct.

    It happen like this: In the starting lane i was in the 5 th gear coming into Tamburelo. As i had to take the curve, i had to get the 4 th gear in, as i tried to putt the third in but the third didn't went in and come on neutral.

    Maybe at this time i putt the gaz as i was competing with all the others, it went all to fast to get all the details. At this stage my engine went down and i couldn't restart the car.

    Coming back home and having my car check by the mechaniker, he diagnostic a stage 4. So that's all what i can say.

     As Grant sais, if one is in neutral and just applies full throttle, the rev limiter should intervene and prevent going to high with the revs.

    So either the rev limiter did not work, or you went into 1rst (?), but that seems hard to imagine, as 1rst is hard to put in 

    Anyway, hope all is well soon...and if you change your mind to come next week to the Ring, I still have a rooms booked for you

    No. And what was strange is that after this happen i still could change gear with the gear box. The real thing that i really don't understand is that the engine would'nt get started.

    I really think the best thing to do for now on is to wait for the mechaniker diagnostic. But thank's for the thinkingSmiley
