Need Advice on Turbo order for 2010

    This is my first post.

For a multitude of reasons, I will be ordering a 2010 Turbo vs. trying to pick an 09 from a dealer's lot at a big discount.  Good news is, I will be able to get it my way!

For those that have ordered in the past, what advice would you give me?  I am a few months away from placing the order, and have already been told I will get a 5% discount.

     My must haves are:

     Tip/PDK:  Which would you choose?

    Sports Crono:  Gotta have it!

Anything that gives me the electronics (bluetooth, nav, bose, xm, etc.)

    Am I missing anything?

     Thanks!

Any idea how the PDK does in comparison to the Tip?  This could change my decision, although I am not familiar enough with the PDK to know if it is better / worse?

Re: Need Advice on Turbo order for 2010

No need to worry regarding PDK: PDK is superior to the old Tiptronic in every aspect. If I were you I would definitively wait for the 997TT with Facelift. This car is still rumoured to get PDK. Chances are high that the FL will be available this fall. Worst case, PDK will only be available in a special "S" version from 2010 on Smiley

Limited slip differential.  Adaptive sport seats.  Short shifter.

    MKSGR, what mean by FL?

Thanks jdbLA.  Since I am looking at PDK/Tip, I will look at the Adaptive Sports seats you recommended, but pass on the sld and short shifter.  Smiley

Re: Need Advice on Turbo order for 2010

If you order PDK/Tip, short shifter does not apply.

I thought Turbos came w/ LSD, if not they should. You want a torque monster and neglect proper traction?

Re: Need Advice on Turbo order for 2010

    Congrats. My opinions:

PCCB if you have the funding. A member here (Stradale) helped convince me of this and it is one of the best things I've done for the car. No regret whatsoever. If funding is limited, I would even cut the "beauty" options (extra leather, etc.) to get this.

PDK is a no brainer over automatic. But if PDK is out, automatic will be gone so I don't think you have to worry about this.

    Sport Chrono: Absolute must.

Turbo script on center console: Cheap. Not that important to me but it seems to bother some people who don't have it SO MUCH that I got scared into getting it. Smiley

LSD: Cheap and another no brainer. Not an option on automatic. Don't know about PDK.

XPA -- Thicker Steering Wheel (thicker and has thumb rests at 2 and 10, just like the GT2 steering wheel), assuming the Facelift Turbo uses thin steering wheel as standard. Check with your dealer. This is one of the simplest and yet most important options to me. I mean, you hold the steering wheel 100% of the time. LOL.

Most people end up regretting NOT ordering enough options. So my vote is to go all out and spend as much as possible. Smiley Strange advice for this economy and "trust me" you'll thank me for them later. Welcome to the "Paradise Club," once you drive the Turbo, it will be very hard to move backwards to anything weaker.

Thanks. I've posted many pictures of my car here before (in the Bilstein thread in my signature), but here's the latest one. And I think I know what you are going to ask next. The wheels are HRE P40. Smiley

Damn, that is a sweet looking car you have there!

And yes, those are great looking rims.  Makes me want to get a turbo off the lot now and go buy those wheels!!  Smiley

Hmmm... PDK with short shifter... Careful, you're going to give Porsche another idea to make more money off of us.

Re: Need Advice on Turbo order for 2010

Heated seats. Women love them. Matter of fact if she's ornery, or combative, on a long trip? Furtively turn on her seat, chances are she'll fall asleep. Smiley

They might offer an option that makes the "feel" of the PDK buttons more precise Smiley

Re: Need Advice on Turbo order for 2010

There is something about those larger break shoes in yellow, that really set the car off asthetically.  Not to mention the performance as well.

Re: Need Advice on Turbo order for 2010

    PDK, Sport Chrono and Ceramics.
