    intouch1 (Sherif)...look here, your X6 M's twin

Well, not quite a real twin but it is white like yours.

My dealer provided a brandnew X6 3.5d for our ski vacation in Austria since my X5 M hasn't arrived yet.

I have to admit that while I'm somebody who loves as much power as possible, the X6 3.5d grew on me and it was fun driving it, even on the Autobahn.

In the city, the acceleration is impressive and even for country roads, the Diesel engine is a treat. Acceleration from 0-100 kph happens in 6.9 seconds and although the X6 3.5d is a heavy SUV (SAV), you barely feel the weight. The engine doesn't feel underpowered at all and believe it or not but I was the fastest car on the Autobahn, most cars out there are slower.

Up to 200 kph, the X6 3.5d feels pretty fast, over 200 kph, the speed increase is slow.

The X6 3.5d my dealer provided is fully loaded and I have to say that I'm impressed with this car. The HiFi sound system is kind of a disappointment though, if you don't turn it VERY loud, the sound is not really good.

Everything else is and works nice, the quality impression is very good. The head-up display isn't really my thing, I posted two photos with it but it really distracts from driving. I only would use it with the navigation active, otherwise it is really not too helpful.

Fuel (Diesel) consumption is really not impressive (between 14-17 l / 100 km) but still not bad at all.

Drive comfort is great, the engine doesn't sound too much like a Diesel and the huge torque makes it real fun (and easy) to drive this car.

The car is equipped with 255/50 R winter tires and they perform really well on snow, highly recommended.

Enjoy some of the photos I made, nothing special but it may give you an idea.

Overall, I think this is the perfect family car for those who still want some sportiness but need a car which is a good winter car and has lots of room for the family. It doesn't have to be the X6 M, the 286 HP Diesel engine is impressive and it has been recently replaced by a new 306 HP version as far as I remember. So if a huge power output on the family car isn't important to you, this may be just the right family car for you.

You are correct. Also, the 3.5d could out run the M5 from 50mph to 70mph if I recall correctly..

The new 4.0d X5 does 0-62 in 6.6 secs according to their site but I reckon it could be quicker...

It is the new 3.0 L twin turbo engine for LCI X5/X6, replacing 3.5sd.

    Re: intouch1 (Sherif)...look here, your X6 M's twin

Precisely, it´s the same 3.0 ltr. engine with a different turbocharger system, hence the 40d designation is just a nomenclature. I think Janus was making fun of it...

    Re: intouch1 (Sherif)...look here, your X6 M's twin

I actually like the white color a lot, it grew on me with my wife's M3 Cab. Unfortunately the white color also attracts more attention, so I decided against it for the X5 M.

My dealer is really great, the X5 M production is slightly delayed for whatever reasons (I still may get the car by the end of March...hopefully) but providing the brandnew X6 3.5d for our ski trip is amazing.

Yes, the twin turbo charged Diesel engine feels very powerful and most people would probably very happy to have such an engine on their family car, it is definetely a good choice and the new 40d should be even better. For those who want/have to look at the money, the X6 3.5d or 40d is definetely a good choice. I never thought I would enjoy driving a Diesel powered car.
