So I just got word from my BMW dealer that indeed BMW Canada will be importing the Alpina B7 xDrive SWB, production starting Sept 2010.
It was fresh off the fax and I already had a deposit down for one, first one on the list in fact.
They don't have pricing yet, I may or maybe not want it but at least I know there is one waiting for me if I do fact want one.

no awd.
awd is pretty much a must for performance cars now with the elevated level of HP, the tires need all the help they can get to put the power down. Foul weather safety is also a concern.
Believe me it's no fun driving those AMGs in rain or snow. My CLS55 can't even get out of my garage in the snow.
One can possibly get away with only rwd in super dry climates, but it would still be stretch the traction control to the limit.
The major reason I decided against the C63 AMG I favored as a family car was the missing 4WD. I just can't take the chance during Bavarian winters, they can be very harsh and going skiing is another point to have 4WD over here.
The C63 AMG with performance package is an amazing perfomer (practically Panamera Turbo performance from 0-200 kph) at a pretty reasonable price (even compared to my bargain X5 M) but without 4WD, this is not a car I want to move my family in during winter time.
I'm going to miss the amazing C63 AMG exhaust sound though.

Just got pricing, $152,000CAD, and another $9,900 if I want Individual finishes.
Man we Canadians really got shafted on pricing compared with the Americans, $122,875US, with exchange rate it swill be just under $130,000CAD.
It's actually a bargain compared with the regular 7, if I spec a 750i xDrive to the same level as the Alpina, it's only $10,000 cheaper, so $100 for each additional HP, very good deal.
