    Yes indeed.

Re: Sport Auto test: RUF RT12 @ Nurburgring

    impressive car though...

Re: Sport Auto test: RUF RT12 @ Nurburgring

he doesn't even bother downshifting many times...car must have such accessible torque...

Re: Sport Auto test: RUF RT12 @ Nurburgring

    0-100 km/h 3,6s
    0-200 km/h 9,9s
    Topspeed 361 km/h

But still slower than the GT2 on the Ring...

Re: Sport Auto test: RUF RT12 @ Nurburgring

Where did you get the Ring time from the video is only 7:06 in duration

Re: Sport Auto test: RUF RT12 @ Nurburgring

Ring time is 7:35 - slower than a stock 997GT2 - not good, given its significant power/speed advantage down those long staightaways.

Wrong, the time is awesome. AS the review said, the cat would significantly benefit from as more race-oriented setup at the Ring. Instead, it's meant for daily-driver road use and thus not setup to extract every last second at the track.

But the GT2 is also set up for daily-driver road use, so what mp said is still valid.

I tend to disagree with you and mp - and agree with Crash

Same performance in HHR as the GT2

Very close on the NBR despite a weight penalty of ca. 100kg (although I agree that the additional power has to be taken into consideration here)

Significantly faster in the straight line

In summary, the Rt12 might be called the better car... if only the price difference was not that huge

Re: Sport Auto test: RUF RT12 @ Nurburgring

Thats a great time for the RT12. You can hear it ground out a fair few times, which indicate how it's got a road setup for the suspension.

Ref the seat movement, they use stock Porsche GT3 seats, just re-trimmed. In some of Walter Rohls videos you can see similar movement in GT3s and GT2s. The fibreglass shells can flex quite easily at the shoulders.

Music to my ears . Btw, when are you getting your 599? It would be a hard choice for me between that and this .

Re: Sport Auto test: RUF RT12 @ Nurburgring

Well, I think that RT12 is way overpriced despite very good results. For Euro 320K(test RT12 price) you can get 997 GT2 and new Audi RS6 Avant. I would choose this two over RT12 any time.

Re: Sport Auto test: RUF RT12 @ Nurburgring

Second this-in aerodynamics GT2 is better...

Re: Sport Auto test: RUF RT12 @ Nurburgring

    Fast but, way overpriced IMHO.

Re: Sport Auto test: RUF RT12 @ Nurburgring

997 GT2 is faster on wet handling track as well.

It is a matter of days

The Rt12 would be more of a rival to the GT2 than to the 599...

Kreso, you are right regarding price (i.e. depreciation). With the Rt12 you simply burn another 100k Euros over a three year period compared to the GT2.

However, having said this: if both cars were sold at the same price I would go for the Rt12. The power of this car is simply unbelievable

    Markus,

Yes, power is amazing and RT12 is Veyron aside the fastest car on the planet. BUT... RT12 is suffering from same problems in drive dynamics as 997 Turbo according to Horst(even more sudden oversteer). 997 GT2 is better at drive dynamics, wet handling(more traction despite only RWD, tested version of RT12 is AWD) and overall stability.

Other question for you-were can you drive over 330km/h these days? On empty autobahn? Sunday early morning during spring time?

On curvy country road(Black Forrest area in your country for example) 997 GT2 will be faster(if both drivers skills are at the same level)...

...and for the same money you can have 997 GT2 as weekend car and Audi RS6 Avant as daily commuter/family car!

I hate to bring dischord into your music, Crash.

I don't even know what the RT12 costs, but if it is significantly more than the GT2 just to be able to do something that nobody has much use for (that is, driving between speeds of 329 km//h and 361 km/h - or between 204 mph and 222 mph) but have inferior handling (see Nürburgring time), then I stand by what I said.

Fritz, my musically challenged friend , I absolutely agree with your price assessment. My observation was purely performance-related, but I still stand by it. A great daily driver, aimed more at the road than the track. Also, it's almost 10 seconds faster to 300 km/h than the GT2 , even more with the shorter gearing (which would also enable it to use the MPSC tyres, as opposed to the gripless Contis). Didn't realize it cost 320.000 Euro though .

    Kreso, I see your points

However, your comment regarding the Rt12 setup is not quite correct: HvS just states in the article that the Rt12 exhibits oversteer if the substantial engine power is being released in bends/corners. He does not criticize the setup, however. Contrary to the 997TT AWD setup the Rt12 comes with the "old" 996TT AWD system which is characterized by a very predictable change from understeer to oversteer. On my test ride I was amazed by how soft the oversteering under power starts. Excellent setup

I agree that the top-speed is irrelevant. I mean, 330kph is much more than enough. The key advantage of the Rt12 is the enormous acceleration above 200kph. Like a rocket. If you have experienced it once you will be spoiled forever. The torque, the hp output... Really incredible

Re: Sport Auto test: RUF RT12 @ Nurburgring

Plus for the RT12 also is that it can double duty as a family car for those of us with heir apparents. The GT2 would be the better choice for those who already have a 911 Turbo with rear seats in the stable.

Re: Sport Auto test: RUF RT12 @ Nurburgring

    anyone know the 0-400m time?

Re: Sport Auto test: RUF RT12 @ Nurburgring

Anyone know if HvS will test a RWD version of the RT12? That might be a more interesting comparison to the 997GT2.

Re: Sport Auto test: RUF RT12 @ Nurburgring

All this Rt12 talk is starting to get me more and more anxious for my car

That would be interesting indeed However, I am afraid that chances for a test of the RWD version are very limited. Only very few (<5, if I recall correctly) of all Rt12 were built as RWD versions the majority being AWD cars. I don't think Ruf even does have a RWD car at hands which could be used as a test car.

Re: Sport Auto test: RUF RT12 @ Nurburgring

Interesting to see they use the 996 GT seats instead of the new CGT / 997 GT items.
