I have the Evolution Stage 3+ kit on my C2S, it sounds
amazing. My wife says it sounds angry, so if she notices it must be louder. You should check out there sight www.evoms.com. the extra power is also a blast.

I figured out how to solve my problem. The 997 muffler construction is different than the 996 construction. Without getting into details, I need to do some internal surgery to fix the issue. This should then replicate the PSE exactly.

Does anyone know of where to get pix of PSE so that we know exactly how PSE is different than standard exhaust?
I was offered a dealer exhaust hack that mimics PSE for $1800 cdn. They also had a bypass pipe and I was told as well they modified the internal construction of the muffler too. Funny thing is that they claim a 11hp gain at the wheel; however, porsche makes no such claims.

Well I decided to cut the can open and do some surgery. Based on the internal construction and without totally cutting the can open, I made some internal mods to mimic the PSE. I think it is close in sound. The PSE definitely is different internally than the stock. It is not as loud at idle, but under load the sound is close in volume. I'll try to post a sound clip. I am thinking of selling the mufflers with the factory chromed tips for $600. This covers my cost for all the fabrication. The factory tips are worth about $400 new. So it a good bargain for someone looking for better than stock sound and new tips.

Agreed ------ I have the EVO sports muffler (it is the same as/supplied by Fabspeed by the way), and it provides a much improved sound. I'm afraid that after the NSX, I found the standard quite bland ----cruising is still quiet, with just a mild alto-sax sound.
I aslso installed the EVO headers ( which are their own design), which are beautiful in sight and performance with no perceptable extra noise. .............
............and the BMC airfilter kit (Fabspeed) that removes that silly helmholtz pipe from the standard.
Now the car is exciting in sound, about 25bhp stronger, and still sensibly quiet at cruising speed ------at full power going thro' the variocam transition at 5200rpm it is wonderful! Before I could not hear it..
before all of this, the 997 sounded like a bear roaring ---loud and without tonal quality (white noise) --- now the sound is more focused, with good quality, and fitting to a car of the 997's power and performance.
It is now more interesting than the NSX-------
