    7.30 for the whole ring?

Now how is that possible? The power, aerodynamics, etc just don't argue for that being anything but a fantasy. The first thing that gives it away is that motor made it all the way around the track without exploding. Heck, that's a hard thing for stock E46 M3s to do!

Re: Supercharged CSL on the Ring

So as well as being road hogs, BMW drivers are now liars as well!?

surely you don't think its accurate Bilal, a CSL platform (not better than a GT3) with only GT2 HP numbers and achieves a 7:30?

It could drop a few seconds bellow 7:50 thanks also to its R-Compound tires BTW (which is about 5 seconds at least right there). But lets put it this way, if you drop a GT2 engine into the GT3 (a stock GT3 matches a stock CSL in the ring with same tires), you are going to achieve better lap times than a Carrera GT? Ridiculous ain't it

Re: Supercharged CSL on the Ring

Now, about supercharging a E46-M3 engine is about as smart as this guy... you are just asking for you know what to happen

Re: Supercharged CSL on the Ring

i agree carlos, the engine soooo high strung its not even funny.

luckily my car wasn't affected by the recall, but to be honest it ain't japanese, so i always keep an eye on the engine temp before flooring it.

Yeah, if they're claiming all they had to do was supercharge an M3 and shave a couple hundred lbs off it to hang with the CGT on a track that long, yes they are absolutely full o schit. BTW, the CSL which gets obliterated by the CGT already comes with R compound tires.

Re: Supercharged CSL on the Ring

So, the regular CSL does the ring in what, 8 minutes?
Put 100hp more in it, and does 7.30?
    That's not even funny.

It would at best yes, with regular tires, but the CSL comes stock with R-compound Sport Cups so it laps the ring in 7:50 stock. Add 120HP of unsporty supercharger achieved horses and it would do 7:46-7:47 if driven by a pro with lots of time to practice.

Re: Supercharged CSL on the Ring

Im sorry guys if i had hurt your feelings. I know you guys drive some of the best sportcar "brands" in the world.
But the reality is, the laps with my BMW CSL is not a dream its just facts. And in the spring 2005, SportAuto and Mr Saurma him self, will drive the CSL for official record.

The laps that we have this time was produced by Richard Göransson, 2004 winner of Swedish Touring Car Championship.

In one of our laps that day, we had 6,56 sec bethween coca-cola kurve and Gantry we also passed 21 cars that lap. And bethween gantry and bridge we had a topspeed of 310 km/h.

Soo...this is real and not someting we brag about to get girls They like us anyway.

Let me get this straight: you claim a 7:30 in a full 20,8Km ring lap time on a supercharged 480HP CSL with street tires? do you realise the Saurma's you mentioned best lap on a CarreraGT was only a 7:32?

How on earth can you explain that a BMW 3-series CSL is going to OUTHANDLE a 612HP CarreraGT supercar (or Pagani Zonda or Techart 600HP+ GT-Street or even a stock GT2 for that matter) by just dropping a simple supercharger in it????

What is it to explaine? Great build car with a great driver!
The std CSL does 7:50 thats much faster than a lot of other cars with much more horsepower etc. How does BMW explaine that?? But its not just the horsepower that counts, suspension, tire, camber, brakes and a drivers rutin.
Wait and read about it in april 2005

Re: Supercharged CSL on the Ring

Ok, so you're saying that a tuned 3-series (which basically the CSL is) is faster than a street-legal LeMans prototype with much more hp?

To put it nicely, i don't believe it.

Re: Supercharged CSL on the Ring

Thats what I thought, frazze. We weren't born yesterday you know.
No 480HP 3-series that is still street legal is going to drop bellow a 7:40 in the ring (not even a 480HP supercharged GT3RS), let alone 7:30. Notice I say street legal, cause if it ain't street legal, then there is no merit or difficulty in it.

The CSL is a great car, don't get me wrong, and as you say it does 7:50 around the ring in stock form, though other cars don't use R-compound Pilot Cups as stock which in a 20km course amounts to 5-10 seconds right there with no merit to the car. But to put it another way, but just becasue I put NOS for example on a 996 Carrera doesn't mean I'm going to out-drag a McLaren F1.

Hey Carlos, do you have sequel to that pic of a guy welding the underside of his pick-up truck?

It looks like he might be repairing the gas tank!

But, if you NOS'd a 3 series BMW you could. BTW, it's trying to Buy a Man Weenie

    oooh...maybee i didnt say...Its streetleagal!
But in the end...you have to see to belewe...right?

Re: Supercharged CSL on the Ring

Well frazze, it would of helped if you said it wasn't a street legal car in the first place especially when I asked you to explain the reason for the lap times you claim, instead of saying "What is it to explaine? Great build car with a great driver!", cause in that case no one would of been surprised and nothing to get exited about, so would a Mitsu EVO VIII or any other and for less money... next thing you'll tell us that you used race slicks as well to do the lap time.

Good question! How does BMW explain that?

That car was not only supposed to be street-legal, but also standard production spec.

Re: Supercharged CSL on the Ring

    Hello guys!
I'm responsible for most of the modifications done to the supercharged CSL. I feel I have to fill in some info....
The brakes have bean uppgraded, the chassis stiffened, a half roll cage aded, susspension is uppgraded. The car is corner weighted and addjusted with propper rake angle.
There realy is no exotic changes done to the car, it's just that we have concentrated on improving EVERY aspect of the car. Even so, we did not use any specialy crafted exotic components, only of the shelf avaliable parts.(besides the Supercharger install) Have we started with a Porsche no one would have even noticed such a lap time. The CSL is a beautifly balanced car, that I feel we built with equal quality components as a GT3. As to call us liars, that's just ignorant and stupid. Know you facts first!

By the way another Swedish AC Shnitzer CSL has run 7:36 with Swedish magazine Auto Motor & Sport, also highly moddified in the chassi/brake departement, but with stock engine. Now that even more "immpossible". Right!?!

By the way, I personaly think that the Carrera GT can go even faster, as Walther R. himself has said with a younger wersion of me behind the wheel. The Carrrera GT is faster around the Ring with the traction controll, suggesting its not using all of the advantage it has on the papper (612 hp)
I remember reading that Walther R. said that going under 7:30 was not fun, but attendable non the less....

Thats it!? And that shaved 20 seconds on the ring from an already CSL version of the E46-M3?? to almost match the production world car record of nurburgring done by Walter Rohrl on a Carrera GT supercar? give me a break, nice propaganda but who are you trying to kid, seriously... few suck their thumbs around here, maybe in supercars.net
