In-car technology - Porsche lagging?
I reckon that Porsche is overlooking a substantially profitable area of the options list, and one that many people are going to look at to decide if they should buy a BMW or a Porsche, if they are floating.
I'm talking about the in-car technology, and specifically the audio and nav system interactivity with mobile phone technology and whatever.
I reckon that Porsche brings stuff to market too late to make it worthwhile. Should they be making more of an effort (re-investing some of their profit) in matching some of the kit offered by other manufacturers?
The iPod integration has been a long-standing joke.
What about blue-tooth phone integration?
How about an integrated blue-tooth GPS antenna?
A blue-tooth audio input to PCM?
Discreet surveillance camera, so you can deter or catch vandals? Or help to prove who was at fault in insurance battles?
I think current Porsche buyers buy the cars in-spite of these omissions. With a competative market place, is this a problem for the future? Or does it not matter that Porsche lag behind in or ignore this area?
