    Just for those without predjudices

If you really want a sport car - And in my opinion, besides it is road legal, not a everyday car, (for that is much better a Carrera or an Aston)- but a must for those that are fed up with the mediocre and too expensive performance of the "exotics", (The best choice IMHO for a second car, for alive drivers) please take a look:

"Expect for a minimum 565 bhp"

    ....but careful with it!

Re: Just for those without predjudices

Very nice! Was waiting for when that was going to happen!

    It did Mike!

All Ultima lovers were waiting for this.

In spite it was a very well keeped "secret"......with the new engines, not only the performance will arrise, but the Ultima will meet many european emission
    standards....

And, following your posts, I feel you are a real car lover and, a fanatic of beauty togrther with this "machines", as I am.

BY THE WAY, the Ultima is "The Car". Not in competition with the LP640. No. It's , for me, another concept. Eons (H.P. Lowecraft ones) ahead....

It's the "beast" for the Elise-Exige/Carrera GT/Enzos/ Bugattis/ etc....whatever in the track (And I absolutely love the Lotus Handling). In this moment, you could "expose" any other creature to "sacrifice", no matter the track, no matter how "Exotic" is the "given vegetable". This "Hannibal Lecter" will be implacable.....and with all other "Exotics" (Road legal).....in any track....of course, in any condition....."Resisstance is pointless" (Stark Trek..."Borg's words"....a classic)

"Usefull everyday cars " are another story....Carreras, Lambos , Cavallinos, and, for me (in this moment), Vantages....confortable, "fast", nice, perfect for our for everyday....

An Ultima is another concept. For the ones that really want to experience the "racing" feeling (and I'm already 46, with some history in racing, years ago, but not still dead)

And in this late version, more and more (of course still very far but...) Ultima is approaching to what a F1 is.....MClaren tested engines with the Ultima Chassis, not so long ago......

So.....IMHO, is the nearest thing to an F1 that "Us" the "mortals that followed a different way than those that took "Karting" seriously, some years ago", can approach our adrenaline to a really fast car (- Please let me insist- road legally)

If my mind does not decive me, I remember Mike, a post you wrote in wich you appointed that you where "learning" with your Lotus, and trying to be prepared for the Lambo 640 ...that was a very wise attitude.....I feel that with an Ultima that attitude should be mandative.....(refered to a LP640, as the "learning" car)

By the way, how magnificent looks your Murci!

It's nearly as perfect as a Michaelangelo Buonarotti's creation!

Re: Just for those without predjudices

I didn't see any weight figure, but I would bet it is somewhere just under 2500lbs. So you have 800hp in a sub 2500 lbs car. That is more than a current GT1 Le Mans car.

Talk about folks getting hurt in a Blue Devil, I would imagine that even a pro racer would crash this thing in short order. Think about the money and engineering that goes into a LeMans GT1 car. The brake package alone on a GT1 car will cost as much as this ENTIRE car!

In my opinion, this is a publicity car, and would be useless outside the Utah salt flats. Even the LP640 is somewhere around 3200lbs AND has AWD.

I think their base car with an LS2 is a more balanced car.

Re: Just for those without predjudices

I don't think a car's propensity to crash increases linearly with increases to its horsepower. I.E. a 800hp Ultima has 60% more power than a 500hp one, but I don't think you're 60% more likely to crash it! If the two cars have the same chassis and brakes, it will go around the same corner pretty much the same. Both of them have more than enough power to hurt you and get you into all corners at the highest speed possible to go through that corner in . The 800hp one is just faster in a straight line, and that's the easiest part of driving.

I think the 650hp (ish) Ultima is probably the right amount of power for the car when you look at the price/maintanance/power triangle. But that's just me.

The weight of an Ultima GTR with a Chevy V8 is arround 990 Kg.

Of course, this is not a car for amateurs. It's a very serious sport machine and, of course under unappropiate hands can be very dangerous.

A Blue devil is another story: much more weight. A light car is far more flexible to drive, less forces in the curves.

I dont know the cost of the brakes you describe, but this is NOT a "publicity car" (many owners, clubs, events....), and its so interesting price is due to a clever policy from the company.

The majority of users are in England, not in Utah, and it is a product with a quite long tradition. Yes, it could compit with some racing cars, with the difference that is road legal, and passes the EU standards of security and emissions.

And, some of us think that AWD is almost useless if in dry roads (wich is the condition you will find almost allways, unless you live in certain latitudes).

Transmitting the power to the road is a matter of proper tires, proper suspension arrengements and SKILL of the pilot. With the position of the engine, you get loads of stability and traction. Are F1 AWD? Where is the engine positioned?

Maybe not your cup of tea, but the fastest car available in the "road legal" market now. And let me insist, in ANY road.

Of course, you can choose the engine that fits your needs. In fact, between the "less powered" and the most powerful there are only seconds (or less) of diference in real life.

Above certain specs, the real diference is made by the hands that pilot the car.

Absolutely agree with you. There is a very small diference, and this only comes in the pure acceleration. The 650 HP is much more than almost everybody can use....

But some of us are vicious!
