I reckon the 997 TT w/PCCB will have better resale value, maybe another reason to get them

The additional resale value will be a tiny percent of their initial cost. I wouldn't use that as a justification to buy them.

On the topic of longevity - this is one of the most highly touted aspects of carbon-ceramic rotors. However, experiences have not borne that out (to the same extent anyways).

Here's something I just read today on Rennlist about the longevity and expense of using carbon brakes on the new Ferrari F430 Challenge racers:

"Here's another data point on ceramic rotors - Ferrari Challenge 430's come with huge ceramic rotors standard. Racers have just been informed that they will be required (note required) to replace the front rotors after 2 races and the rear's after every 4th race. This is not optional. Additional replacements may be required if rotors are damaged (gravel traps etc.). In spite of the mandatory replacements, there are no discounts and a driver who does the whole season will have to spend $125,000 on rotor replacements!

Who needs these things? Two races and you have to pay $30K for new rotors or not be allowed to race? I am glad I did not buy the ceramics on my GT3 and 430."

    Thanks Grant

Re: PCCBs --- Must have option?

Rotor damage from road conditions is my number 1 reason not to get PCCB.

Re: PCCBs --- Must have option?

its certainly cool to have the pccb brakes....yet, price is quite hefty.

personally i have the same dilemma, but most probably will hold back as standard brakes are excellent and i do not track my car.

I'd actually be more inclined to order PCCB if I DIDN't track my cars. Track use may be where they shine, but it's also where they experience alot of wear and replacement costs would devastate me...

Re: PCCBs --- Must have option?

I ordered PCCB for 2 reasons:
1- Less Brake Dust = Cleaner Wheels
    2- Love the yellow calipers

    3 - 380 mm front rotors

so you spent 10k for purely aesthetic reasons?

Re: PCCBs --- Must have option?

yep! oh I guess it brakes ok too

    I have driven a 996 GT2 with Pccb.
The feeling of the braking power was MUCH better than my 996 GT3 with NO PCCB, Pccb needed less power for brake and i found out (maybe from the different suspension) that the abs was even better too...

For me Pccb is a MUST option and you should all place them in your cars..
